It's rare to find a game like Fallout 3, one that you can really get lost in. Few other games I have played enable you to get as immersed and emotionally invested as this one. It gives you a stark, desolate world, and the freedom to explore it however you like. I do think New Vegas is the better game, but Fallout 3 is still great in its own right. A game combining the atmosphere of 3, the writing and player choice of New Vegas, and the combat of 4 would be absolutely fantastic. I'd also highly recommended getting the Tale of Two Wastelands mod if you want a full package experience of 3 with New Vegas. Adds some of New Vegas's improved mechanics into 3, and makes both games' stories together feel like one grand journey.
