In my humble opinion, this game is not good: - First comes the fact that the game has a single save slot. This means that you cannot run two characters at the same time, trying different tactics and seeing what works. Also, if you have a brother/sister/boyfriend/girlfriend or any other person, who shows an interest towards the game, you cannot let them try it, because it will ruin your one single save - There is a complete lack of an explanation how exactly the game works. You want to know how to beat the elements, how not to die in a fight, how to craft a simple spear? Feel ready to watch hours of tutorial videos or read hundreds of pages, because this is the only way this information will get to you. The game is just too hardcore to tell you how the game is played. - When you actually learn how to play the game, the entire exprience is still bollocks. Whether you live or die is determined by the random items you get from the first 2-3 locations you reach. Did not get clothing from the 8 different places you scavenged? Tough luck, here's a hypothermia death. This does not only relate to clothes. I do not mind RNG, but this game is so reliant on it, that it completelly nullifies any skill you may have. - There is no inherent motivation for the character to live. You wake-up in a medical facility, you go to a town, there is some hint of a bigger story, but that is it. The game does not offer an enticing story, it does not offer any motivation for you to even bother with it. If there is no motivation to bother with the game, why play it? Just to see how long I can survive? There are thousands of equally sh*tty games, which offer the exact same exprience, paired with better graphics and sound. - My biggest problem is that the game is not difficult, it is just unfair. These are my two cents on the topic. If it sounds like a game you want, buy it, otherwise, spend your hard-earned cash on a product which offers real gameplay instead of relying on mods.
The game can only be played on 800X600 or 1024x768 there is no native support for higher resolutions. There are no 1-click mods that fix it and all available software has severe drawbacks. It will take you a lot of meddling to get the game running in higher resolution. If you are ready for the frustration of minutes-to hours - to days of frustration, go on. Otherwise, this is not a recommended buy, go play some other Star Wars game.
Urban Chaos is overally good game, but there are a few things one has to keep in mind before buying it, 1, The final mission is comlete bull... I strongly advice watching a walkthrough on it, otherwise you will be left without a basic idea what you are supposed to do. 2. There is generally little explanation on your goals and objective locations. Something is right next to you on the map? No, it is not, you have to travel half the town over, find one special palce where you can climb and from there it is a 3-4 minute platforming section to get to your objective. 3. There are no checkpoints and no manual mid-mission saves. If you die you start all over again and somethimes this can be quite frustrating, especially if you die to falling from a ledge, or die due to the cluncky combat controlls (and controls in general). 4. This game did not benefit from having a PS1 version, since it has made the game clunckier that it would have been if it was a straighforward PC game. The good things about this game: 1. Amazing soundtrack 2. Original and highly inspired style of graphics. 3. A story, which even though poorly delivered is still interesting enough to keep you going. 4. A more or less sandboxy levels, which sometimes do and sometimes to not offer you a few ways to solve your problems. It is a game of its time, and that is a late 1990's platformer with some combat involved. I recommend the game, but only to those who are ready to overlook the stated flaws. If you believe the game to sound too frustrating, switch your choice to something else.
The gameplay is simplistic, click and drag, but uner it hides and intriguing story, which will keep you stuck to the screen to the very end. I bought it on another store a while back, but it is a purchase which I do not regret. If you like indie, urban horror titles wtih a twist, this is the game for you.
Imagine playing the X-Com reboot, but everything that you like is gone and everything that infuriates you is ramped up to the maximum. - Higher chance of soldiers shooting each other than the enemies (I hid two soldiers behind a tank and they shot it every time, instead of hitting the enemies) - Terrible cover system, where the cover itself is an obstacle which soldiers somehow cannot even lean over - PANIC! A lot of it, your soldiers will panic for no reason. No because someone is dying, or getting hurt, or even they themselves getting hurt. Expect panic to rise from nothing in the first few moves you play. - Terrible soldier controls, where an accident click next to a soldier will send one of his teammates (that you have already selected) running towards him) - Abosultelly no explanation of crucial game mechanics, such as weight, base management, aerial battles and more. - Equipment loss even after you have succeeded in the mission. If someone has died carrying a weapon and you did not go there to pick it up, it is lost, even though you have succeeded in the mission. - No explanation on terrain, collateral damage and the possibilites which the game offers in using these to your advantage - Many, many, many more infuriating problems. This game is a cheap rip-off of the original X-Com, with just a little (barely any) graphical update. Just a bland, blatant repetition of game mechanics, ideas and concepts, without a single thought of their function within the original X-Com and whether they are beneficial to the gameplay experience, or jsut infuriating. It is a prime expamle of a "I will let you copy my homework, but chnge it a little" situation, where someone mindlessly copied everything without a second of though about the final product. Fans of the original X-Com would probably love it. As for the rest, avoid this as the plague, as the game itself is moraly dead somewhere in the early 90's and the developers did nothing to improve on it.
Tender Loving Care is an amazing experience, which subtly changes the story, depending on your choices during the psychoanalysis tests. It is a great medium of entertainment and it can give you a few good tips on how to better your life. Before playing, remember to check the "Help" section for all the explanation that you need. Those who are bothered by the lengthy travel animations can switch them off from the camera button. The game reveals a story before you, which is both emotional and relatable. It keeps you guessing and it always rewards those players who are taking their sweet time in exploring and learning more about the game's world and characters. I can honestly say that separating with this game broke my heart, hell it broke even my girlfriend's heart and she wasn't even playing the thing. It is an amazing experience and I highly recommend it to those people who are interested in FMV, slow paced games with a little to no action in them.
