This game is sooo captivating, a fact I don‘t experience very often with pixelart games. I usually have one problem: I buy games for their pixelart, which I really adore. But I uninstall them most times in less than an hour, because I am very bad at roguelikes/lites, have no patience and simply not like that genre (this title is NO roguelike). So this title feels very refreshing, you‘ll experience a steady progress and never run into dead ends. Difficulty is well balanced. Pros reach all goals of a level at one try, but you can repeat the level and maybe only concentrate on one goal each time. WILDFIRE delivers a very good stealth gameplay and adds an interesting elemental magic mechanics to contribute to its fantasy seeting. Really great game… only thing I didn‘t get so far: why are the bad guys all women?! oO xD
I'm not sure, if the term <> does any justice to this title. Because if you look at the game, what you do is ... walking. There is not much more interaction than clicking on the right objects. But I enjoyed this game SOOO MUCH. The tension rises with every hour of this game. With every minute you become more and more intrigued with the story and what's actually going on. Without any spoiler I have to say, I liked the part with the orphanage best. My heart almost broke experiencing what many pour souls have to go through in their early childhood days when being bullied. Amazing, how real it feels. All the mechanics in this game do a perfect job, the artstyle is simplistic, but gorgeous. It delivers a certain distance with it's cold colors, perfect fit to the topic. The narrator/therapist has a good voice acting and the sound ambiance in combination with the fantastic level design and animation just add up to an amazing experience. If you don't like <> you might think, you paid too much... I finished this title in approximatelly 5 hours, maybe less. But this were 5 hours of great entertainment. I still got goose bumps. So if you like games like Blackwood Crossing, this is something for you.
I also didn't expect this game to be something I'd be interested in. The game is the chill pill of games, but I like it. It makes fun to explore the world and discover all kinds of things. It's refreshing to have a game, that requires patience as skill 8) If I have to wait a month for dripping water to fill a pit, so I can climb the edge of it, great then I'll wait for it. But there are some functions/statistics I'd rather have in the game for more comfort: is there an inventory? I don't have an overview of the stuff I own etc. It's good, that you can "save" locations or points of interest... but it's bad, that I cannot name them in the game. After all I can really recommend this relaxing piece of art :)
