Diablo + Hellfire

Lazy

Diablo 1 is a fantastic ARPG, I liked it way more than its sequels because it was a simpler and more enjoyable game for me. But its the same old game without any enhancements. Not even cloud support. Lost Two playthroughs because of that. Play it with Devilution mod for a way better experience but honestly for its price it should have been out of the box.

Guard Duty

Wasted potential

I'm sorry to be this harsh rating it, but the last part ruined the game for me. I'm not against the idea of thoses two very different atmospheres in the same game but the Sci-fi part isn't good. The Metal Gear rip off (the gardener wasn't very subtle but the Second hero with the imitation of David Hayter's voice and the continuous use of the codec is really too much). And the point and click gameplay that become super streamlined. The medieval part of the game is not hard either but you have to look around and think more to proceed further into the levels. Spoilers******************** The worse thing is that the day is saved by the nerdy chick that talk to you by the codec. She has no build up whatsoever, like a secondary secondary character. She plan it with the princess alone and make the story of Tondbert completely useless. none of what you did mean anything because she entered in the sacrificial chamber without your help and would have killed the boss without any help anyway. It's completely dumb. ******************************* It's really is a waste because the 3/4 of the game is a great and colorful point and clic adventure with some dark undertones. It's just that the last part of the game has been handled very poorly (maybe rushed ?) Also, no widescreen support for a game released in 2019.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

Wonderful platformer

First don't be fooled by the overhall cuteness of the game. It's not an easy game. But it's not crazy hard either. The hand drawn graphics are beautiful, it looks like a cartoon. The animation was made with care and it's very smooth. The remade soundtrack is also very good. It's thoses two elements that draw me into buying the game. Tbh the gameplay isn't revolutionary but it gets the job done. Would I pay the full price for it ? Not likely but on sales it's worth it.

Stories Untold

What it could have been.

The first story is The House of Abandon, a classic horror text adventure. It was really good but also extremely short. The problem is that the rest of the game put aside the adventure text for some mind numbing activities. Enter this number, push this button, use the code for that, etc... It's boring and there's almost no payback. The second half of the experiment episode turned great but they wasted the ending. I'm really disapointed, they should have focused on the text adventure game with some interaction. Not interaction with some text adventure game. You can try it if you want but don't pay full price for it.

Hexen II

Puzzlen II

I remember Hexen II from the demo I played before its release. Never tried the original game since then. That's weird cauz I got nostalgia googles for a game I never really played. The dark fantasy setting is great and the quake like gameplay is awesome. The problem is how the levels are made. I don't mind a puzzle from time to time. But that game Is 95% puzzles. The monsters are just here to slow you down. So that a lot of backtracking without an auto map. Add 3 stars if you are really into puzzles and walking around trying to find what the hell you are supposed to do because you missed a button camouflaged in the wall.

Terminator: Resistance

Simple and effective

This is the best Terminator game made to this day. And probably the best Terminator content released since 1991. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. But mostly everything it does, it does it well. At it's core it's a regular FPS, some elements of open world (small/medium maps but you are free to roam around). It has multiple endings, romances, sidequests, iconic weapons from the movies, etc... The best thing is the adition of the Infiltrator free update. A mode where you play a Terminator infiltrator (like arnie in the movies) on a big map and you gather informations to track down a commander of techcom. You can't save, but it's random. I wish they made a whole game around this. That game is the worthy successor of Skynet and Future Shock.

Powerslave

EXHUMED : Underappreciated Gem.

Don't listen to the peasants giving bad score because it's the PC release. It's the best version period. So unlike the console version it has : - Complex and beautifull hand crafted levels in the tradition of build engine games. - Each weapons has its ammo so you have to manage them. It's not just a common pool. - You can actually understand the one liners of the hero. And trust me, they are epic. And the egyptian/stargate setting is awesome and really scary. Made me sh*t my pant when I was a kid. It's the dos version, I wish this was a remaster. Anyway with GDX you can play the game with great mouse support and in high resolution. WHO'S NEXT !!!

Rogue Legacy

Don't

It looks good and fresh at first but it's really annoying. There are much better metroidvania out there, like A Robot Named Fight, or just try Aria of Sorrow and Symphony of the Night which are prolly the best of the genre.
