Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition

Good Entry, Not the Best

Graphically, it's gorgeous to to look at. Companions have their own stories and their own motivations which helps the setting come alive. Settlement building is an above average edition and seeing as building settlements does give you experience it's not completely pointless. Faction motivations can be a bit over the place. The Brotherhood wants to destroy the institute for creating synthetic humans and steal all their technology. The Minutemen - heavily inspired by the militias from the American Independance War period - want to create a fair and free wasteland, but come across as unbelieveably naieve. The Railroad do present some thought provoking arguments about about the meaning of existence and the rights of a monority group. However, they come across as kids setting up a secret club in their den and don't get taken seriously by anyone. The Insitute is basically if Big MT from "Old World Blues" got bored of lombotomising and gene splicing and produced perfect human looking androids instead of lobomomites. The reason for all this? "For a laugh..." As forn the story, it statrs off really well and is gripping enough to draw you in. However as soon as you enter the Institute the story falls off a cliff. Three factions get the same ending cutscene - NOT slides - and the other cutscene is cliche riddled lement about loss. FINAL WORD: A very enjoyable experience, BUT what Bethesda gave with the right hand, they have taken away with the left. Also, update issues and bugs.
