Rebel Galaxy Outlaw

Pleasantly surprised

First off, ignore most of the bad reviews. Half of them are hung up on the fact this isn't like the other games of the series and the other half just get hung up on non issues. The game is a pretty fantastic modern take on wing commander privateer. The colors are bright and vibrant, sort of reminds me of a 3D wing commander 1&2. I love it. I'm very tired of these bleak and boring space sims. Now, I wouldn't say this is fits the modern definition of a space sim. First off, its not slow and painfully boring. This is a fast, fun, arcade like space sim from yesteryear. And that's why its fantastic. Its not a perfect game, I think the weakest point is the main character and some of the writing. But I have to give it 5/5 to negate these unwarranted one star ratings. To address some more of the criticism: Some complain the game can basically play itself. That's true only on the easiest setting. Its up to you if you want to be able to use auto-chase and auto tracking guns. The game has a couple of modes where they are disabled. The other complaint is you can come out of auto-pilot and be under attack. Well that has killed me a hand full of times. But usually that means you are working an area you aren't ready for yet. I wish it had more of everything, but considering the price point I have no complaints. I wish the whiners wouldn't have shot this game down, I would have loved a sequel.
