Alpha Protocol

Janky but fun!

This games has a lot of jank lol but it is solid. The best parts are for sure the dialogue system and the build diversity. You can play the game without even killing anyone if you want either by ignoring most enemies except some bosses or stealth the majority of the levels. Or be an all out warmachine. The story is pretty typical for the spy/espionage genre nothing too grabbing but its fun. Most of the jank in this game comes from combat. Its dated for sure, which is why I generally choose the stealth way of handling missions but once you get the hang of combat and level up a bit you will be fine. You could play it like a James Bond game where you are more run and gun but still capable of some stealth and use gadgets and so on. Lots of choice, which leads me to my final thought. If you like RPGs with choice and consequence then you will love this game. The amount of different endings you can have based on the seamingly smallest choices blows my mind. Its not just endings either, its romance options, characer loyalty, the list goes on. Great game and with the GOG Good Old Game version it plays flawlessly from a compatibility standpoint. I havent had any crashes. I definately recommend this game!

Star Trek™: Starfleet Command III

Great game but terrible port!

As with most games on GoG this one is almost unplayable. For me it booted just fine. The intro movies dont like being skipped but you can easily disable them if they cause issues. My main issue is the lack of high resolution support and lack of polish this port has. If you play in a higher res than 1080p your game will look like soup. The once nice looking textures of the ships and planets (for its time) now look like crap smeared on your screen. Combat is the next big issue. I would say 75% of the time my phaser and torpedo attacks either deal 0 damage on impact or they just miss all together. This is NOT how it was with the orignal game. GoG must have screwed around with the engine to get this to boot on PC and broke something. Meanwhile your enemy can hit every shot. This either leads to encounters being way longer than they need or should be or you get destroyed within minutes. I also think shield regen is broken. I increased shield power to max and it took over 5 minutes to gain max shield power.... 5 MINUTES! Thats ridiculous and again, never took that long before. Now for crashes. They will happen randomly and there is no crash report so good luck finding out why. Idk I want to play these old games but it seems GoG cares nothing for preserving them and only care about bringing in the bucks. Sad, my opinion of GoG was so high at one point and now it is in the gutter.

Star Trek™: Bridge Commander

Great game, terrible port!

As with most games on GoG this one is almost unplayable. First time I boot it up I cant even control my mouse with accuracy in the menu. Ill try installing mods for it and see if that fixes all the bugs. Also GoG doing the bare minimum when it comes to these old games. Apparently compatable with Windows 10 yet the game sometimes just doesnt boot. Do better GoG!
