This game wasn't worth it even with the discount. It is as far from X-Com as you can imagine. Instead of tactical strategy game, you get dumbed down 3rd person shooter. The gameplay is boring and repetetive with huge parts of the game just empty spaces you have to walk through. The automatic saving system is the main reason i finished the game with cheats. I was just fed up with having to go through a cinematic or part of the game all over again just because i died. It shows the game was sewn up with a hot needle just to somehow finish it after abandoning a lot of original concepts. Maybe they should've scrapped it altogether, this was a waste of time and a disappointment.

This game turned out to be a chore to complete. The jungle missions are worst of all due to limited visibility, often times you only see incoming shots but can only guess from where since the foliage blocks your view. Scripted banzai attack is interesting maybe the first few times but then it's just annoying as charging soldiers are stabbing you while you try to reload your gun. Objectives are sometimes unclear so you run around the map trying to find where to go next. Overall it had some bright moments like the theatric mission in Pearl Harbor but afterwards it's just boring scripted action, might have had the oooh effect back in the days but not today.

This game is really bad and that's without comparing it to the original Deus Ex. I mean it's so simplified and technically weak not just by today's standards but already in 2003. This is worse than System Shock 2 and that one came out in 1999 which is 4 years earlier. Metal Gear Solid 2 from 2001 was way better than this if we are to compare console games and not PC. I just don't see a reason why anyone would spend money on this. I got it in some promo for a penny i think and i regret even the hour of time I spent playing this.
