No matter how much two people love each other, they will always become parted. It is best to think of this not so much as a game, but rather an interactive art film. In this context, it succeeds. It is better experienced than played. As a game, I found it short and the puzzles tedious. The visuals and music are quite calm.
Even early on, the chubby cartoon mayor makes jokes about harvesting souls and talks about the smell of burning human bodies being delicious. Not sure why such dark things were intentionally included in what could have been an otherwise child-friendly game. It seems like they went out of their way to ruin the spirit of the gaming experience with this one. A bit boring also with not too much to do, so I can't recommend it for adults either.
Disgustingly replete with references to Freemasonry, complete with an admiral named Mason. The story starts out making the player feel like they have meaningful choices. All too soon though, you find yourself strapped to the rails as you helplessly watch your character make utterly, mind-bogglingly stupid decisions in order to advance the plot in it's prepared direction. At one point my character was actually given a flaw for not agreeing with a woman's actions after she betrayed her own military over a suspicion of treason without any actual proof. Just because her guess happened to later turn out correct, suddenly she becomes the new quest-giver and my character's only available response is obedience to the new regime. I deeply regret not only the investment of money (even though it was on sale) but also the loss of my time spent on this game. I begrudgingly give it a second star because the combat wasn't too bad.
At a glance this game seems to be friendly toward Christian values and ideas. This is not the case. I won't reveal the story here, but sin is portrayed as helpful and eventually a demon is called God. If you're wanting to grab a game that avoids the spiritual pitfalls of many fantasy RPG's, you should probably look elsewhere. This game managed to offend me enough that I quit in disgust and uninstalled.
