Neverending Nightmares

Artfully Indie

Personally enjoyed my time with it so far (about 3 hours for 1st completion). There are 3 total endings, so I will likely go back to try for the others. I recommend this if you like very interesting visual style stories, with a little bit of game play elements. This is mature/gory, so be warned if that turns you off. Generally, you will be wandering around in a fairly well guided experience (you shouldn't get lost and have to figure out what to do next). There are a few sections with stealth or "running away" game play elements and only a few real choices that I could see so far. Music/sound is very good and fits the tense setting. A few jump scares which were very well done. After completing the game once, you do not have to redo it from the beginning to try for the other endings, which is nice. For me the detailed backgrounds, pictures made it fun to wander along and is likely why I took 3 hours (many say they've done it in 2 hours). My bias is towards these short, visual indie games that seem to be coming out a lot lately (The Cat Lady, Little Inferno, type stuff).

Zafehouse: Diaries

Great Change of Pace

I got this direct from developer and will soon pick it up again on GOG...I find the implementation very good; although I would consider reading the manual if you don't want to do a lot of trial and error. Developer seems to be keeping up with some fairly regular updates at well. Not a shooter, but a fun and unique "Zombie" game in a sea of the undead games out now...

Eador. Masters of the Broken World

Fun, TBS in line with HOMM

I've haven't played this as much as many here have but between Genesis and this remake I have logged about 40 hours of fun strategy gaming. For me, most similar to HOMM but I agree with BornRPM there is a different "feel" to the game that takes a bit of getting used to. Once the style becomes second nature, the game proves to have a lot of depth and character (I've only played single player). I have not been overly bothered by the bugs others have mentioned and fortunately have not had any serious crashes at all. The developers have been very responsive in working to clear up problems and once all the major "bugs" are cleared up, I will start a new campaign...but for now, I am having a great time as is. I do like the newer version for the improved graphics and variety. Mainly I like being able to save the game when I want (as much as I want). This one will be a classic...
