No, this is not Diablo! It´s a "light" Hack´n`slay in a positive way of sense. Pros: - Nice artstyle and graphical look - good "heavy" sounds (especially with surroundspeaker or headphones) - really nice pace! - massive fights with great feeling of impacts - interesting tactical skillsystem Cons: - copy and paste environment - just a few different enemys... - ...same with the look of items - only a few traits most important: I have lots of fun!
If you like strategic, complex games in WW2 with tons of historically accurat units, this is your paradise! If you like Company of Heroes, maybe this isnt your game. If you like Graviteam Tactics or the other Eugen games this is your game! You have different parts in Steel Divison 2. First of all, you can play realtime battles. Single- and multiplayer with up to 10vs10 player. Second part is the possibility to build your own divison! If you have a faible for WW2 technic and vehicles, this is real warporn. Hundreds of units with individual statistics, visuals etc. Third part are campaigns on strategic maps, where you field your army on historically missions. Its not a perfect game at the moment, but Eugen Systems is trying to fix bugs and expands the games with both free and payed DLC´s. I like this game so much, I own Steel Division 2 on steam and decided to buy it again on GOG with the history pass to support Eugen and CD Project, too.
The design of the 4 new missions is good, the scripts work and you have different kinds of goals to reach. I had fun. BUT, 9,99€ for 4 missions (2 of them on the same map), with a handfull of new units isnt fair, sorry. A reasonable price is 5€. I played ~5-6h.
While the game itself is good enough to have some fun for 20-40h, the product policy is an effrontery in 7 cases. 1. The first patches released on steam first. Weeks(!) later here on GoG. (And I dont mean the so called "beta"-releases) 2. Promised moddingtools and editor didnt work 100% till today. 3. Created maps are steam workshop exclusive and it is not planned for GoG in the future. (I asked the Dev´s) 4. There are bugs in different mission scripts and they still arent fixed. 5, The first DLC-Pack "Road to Dunkirk" is released and vanilla bugs still there. 6. DLC pack on steam with a -10% discount. Not here on GoG. 7. This game is not bad, but it is not a real "Sudden Strike". This game use the name only for advertisment reasons. No comparison with SS1-3.
