The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Amazing & genre defining

Not often compelled to write a review. Even less often do i come across a game that sets a new benchmark (counting BAK in its open world freedom, amazing story & overall excellence, TOEE for the best turn based combat ever designed & Deus Ex for its revolutionary game design). The Witcher 3 joins the pantheon of greats thanks to amazing open world design (always a good sign when you have too many quests to complete and don't know which one to start first) and stellar writing and story. Every quest feels like it belongs or has meaning and adds to the richness of the world. Have only got to playing the game 7-8 years after release but the game still looks amazing. Every other aspect of the game is at a minimum solid and the entire game experience taken as a whole is par excellence. Would recommend the game to be run with numerous mods however as not all is perfect (namely item scaling, combat being too easy). Mods used included GhostMode and NoItemScaling amongst others. Pros: +Rich open world design (why call it sandbox - have you ever played in a sandbox this large?) +Engaging main story +Excellent quest design, believable and relatable NPC's, choice and variety of quests is huge +Passable combat (made better by the mod Ghost Mode) +Graphically beautiful (even 8 years after release) +Great soundtrack Cons: -Slightly wonky character progression and leveling (but fixed with a mod) -Weapon and Armor scaling is annoying (again made better by a mod)
