I had never played this game before this year (2011) & I can honestly say that it is a good game, but not as great as most people would like to make it out to be. The game is a bit frustating due to the fact that it gives you no clue as to what you are supposed to do.... you are left to figure things out, like where to find the water chip, on your own. Often times the game blatently lies to you... once again going back to the water chip quest. It tells you to go to Vault 15 but when you search the place (& I did for about an hour thinking I was doing something wrong) you can't find you can't find a thing. Another bad thing is the graphics... now don't get me wrong, I am about the furthest thing away from a graphics whore (I'd rather play a Gameboy Advance game than most of today's biggest hits), but the graphics are incredibly ugly. I understand that this is a set in the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, but still is there any need for THIS much blandness in the color scheme? Everywhere you look you see nothing but shades of Brown, grey & black. It is uninspired & boring. Next on my list of complaints is the speed in which combat moves... if you are in a fight that has more than a couple of people/slash mutated WTFs involved then prepare to sit there for awhile, because you have got to wait until each and everyone of those individuals gets done with there turns before you can move on to yours. I understand that you can speed things up from a setting in the option menu (however I discovered this much too late in the game for it to really matter) but there should be an emblem or something of the sort on screen to let you determine the speed in which the game moves or even just plain out skip to your turn. My last complaint complaint is more of a personal gripe of mine that an actual game flaw... the fact that it is a point & click game. Now this might be seen as a plus to some & I can understand that, but in a game like this I would at like at least the option to use a WASD format. Now you may be wondering... if you have all of these complaints, why give it a 4 star review? Well simply because like I said previously... it is a good game (it would have to be to get me to play more than a few minutes of it after discovering it is a point & click game). The story is pretty good once you get into it , most of the characters are likeable, there is no shortage of activities to take part in & the mod community is alive & well. Overall I do recommend the game, but if you are playing it for the first time like I me, don't expect it to be a game changing experience like many on here would like for you to believe it is.
