I used to play the game at 1080p / 60fps on high to medium settings. The new update makes the game crawl at around 30-40 fps on low, and stutters like crazy all over the place, The dx11 version makes it a bit better at around 40-45 fps. They didn't optimize this update, just added random textures, really disappointed in this.
I read about how great this game was...but it's really nothing special. A plodding point and click story that tries to spew propaganda every couple of minutes, really tiring to see this become the norm nowadays. It's just an average game with average mechanics and ok voice acting.
Got it on steam, the backgrounds are fine but the character art / monster design is pretty mediocre (it kinda takes you out of it). The story so far is ...ok, hopefully it gets better with the new episodes down the line. I can see it getting 3 or even 4 stars if it gets better, but that character art is just so offputting.
Starts out good enough, funny, intriguing. The Cthulhu inspirations go about as far as a cult but not much more, really dissappointing second half of the game with a twist ending that kinda ruins it all. Nothing worse than a Cthulhu game that skimps on Cthulhu.
So, it started out pretty well and excellent sprite work. You meet the cast, interesting tutorial, etc. Go into the "Online" world and off you go. The combat great at first...until you realize it is basically the same all the way through. The story is minimal and never really becomes interesting, just a bit around 70 percent through. All in all a decent game that most people won't finish, just gets way too bogged down by repetition.
From all the other reviews I/d seen on youtube and gaming sites, I expected it to be another one of those dumb randomly generated garbo fests. But it's actually really good, a worty metroidvania with a bunch of powers you gather along the way. You can even choose to be good/bad, changing your playstyle entirely with each one. I'm about done with my first playthrough (doing the bad/corrupted route first), worth every hour and it's really cheap to boot, only cost me about 6 bucks. The only con I can think off is that everytime you die you return to a central hub, so it takes a while to get back to where you were.
