After playing MoO1 and MoO2, I was looking forward to them improving the UID, the game play and the races. My son bought MoO3 and let me try it out. Talk about a huge disappointment! The UID is a bit nicer and flashier, but in every other way, this game is terrible compared to its two predecessors! Don't waste you money OR your time on this.
My son bought this when it first came out. He liked it a lot, but I found out quickly that I could not play it because of the FPS perspective. FPS gives me migraines! My son said it was a good version of NWN, but I was disappointed that they did not make it true 3D like WoW, EQ2, etc. Unlike FPS, true 3D is very playable for me and I have always been disappointed in the pseudo-3D of NWN--1 or 2. It must be a good RPG though, because my son spent many hours playing it on multiplayer servers, with people he had known since NWN 1 and Asheron's Call.
I had heard a lot about Fallout from the guys on The House of Lords on Terra-Arcanum back when I was playing Arcanum. When I saw it on here, I just had to get it! Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by what I downloaded because of the poor quality graphics--even taking into account that it has been a long time since those guys were telling me about it. Naturally, being an old time gamer, I looked around to see if I could find any patches that would improve things. Sure enough, I found No Mutants Allowed and it has several very useful official and unofficial patches. Among them, there is a high resolution graphics patch that gives much better quality graphics. There are also several other patches that I strongly urge everyone who enjoys Fallout to visit this site and download for themselves. After adding those patches to Fallout, the game is much more fun to play and I did not include any of the cheat hacks they had there, just the official and unofficial patches that improved the game's playability on modern systems and fixed bugs. I did include the better quality sound files to enhance my playing pleasure. However, I really feel rather strongly that GOG should make those patches available to anyone who buys Fallout or Fallout 2 because sites like No Mutants Allowed seem to be drying up and disappearing every day! The original game manufacturers often no longer even exist and the companies who bought them--especially Atari--just don't care about supporting old games that they are not making money on anymore! (After the way Atari has ruined all of the old Sierra games, I am not sure I will ever be able to force myself to buy anything from Atari because I will always be wondering just how soon they will shut down support for it.) Please add offsite patches to the downloads included on all old games available at GOG! As M$ and the game makers stop supporting the old games that attract the community here, this will become more and more of a necessity. I really like GOG, but this would significantly improve the quality of the service here, in my opinion.
I bought Arcanum when it was still fairly new and lots of people were still playing it. In fact, if you go to Terra-Arcanum and look in their Downloads section, http://terra-arcanum.com/downloads/, you can find all kinds of useful goodies. I even wrote a couple of them myself, but that was a while back and I see that a lot of work has been done since then. With or without patches or mods, this is a fun game that can go several different ways, depending on what type of character you play and what choices your make. Have fun with it!
I own the original series, but can't play them on Windows 7 for obvious reasons. I am looking forward to GOG getting the whole set done and I hope GOG will offer them AS a set, the way I bought them. I also hope you will include the original, first game with the rest of the series because it does add to the story-line.
