To make any judgments on StarCon 3, the first and greatest rule is not to compare it to StarCon 2. Pretend you never played SC2, or pretend it is from an unrelated series that just happens to have all the same races and ships in it. The main draw in StarCon 3 for me was the colony building. This wasn't actually a hugely necessary part of the story, but I very much enjoyed it. The story, which some people hate and some like, isn't terrible, and hey, you get to add Dreadnaughts to your fleet, so don't complain so much. I missed the Yehat and the Shofixti would have been fun to have along, too, but you still get your diverse array of races and all those useless ships that you leave orbiting their homeworlds while you surround yourself with Ur-Quan and Chmmr (the Human Cruiser fares really well in this game, actually, especially after being upgraded). This game is fun, just not the same as StarCon 2.
