MOHAA is perhaps tainted for me a bit by the fact that its gameplay is strongly similar to the PS1 iterations of the series. By the time I got to AA I had played those, the spectacular Frontline (which is a lot less stingy with ammo and medkits than AA) and Airborne. So AA is a good game, but it has a lot of situations that basically require you to save and reload until you get it right. This isn't particularly fun, and some sections (the sniper area in the King Tiger mission) seem designed around saving and reloading type trial and error. Who thought that was fun? Still- the music is great, the missions are pretty diverse and it gives the proper "feel" for a semi-realistic WWII shooter.
The control is great. The atmosphere is fantastic. But what makes me absolutely love Thief is the fear of getting caught and the thrill of pulling it off. It's difficult initially, but once you learn your way around the complex system of sneaking around and using your various gadgets to your advantage, it becomes massively satisfying to play through a level as stealthily as possible. Have a little patience, and you'll be massively rewarded.
LSL Reloaded was a blast. It takes the original, and not only gives it a fresh coat of paint, but a fresh everything. There are a few twists to the classic puzzles, a new chick to strike out with, and plenty of hilarious ways for Larry to get killed. In addition, there are lots of little things- extra little bits of dialogue, responses from trying to lick things- that really make the game fun. On top of all of this: the music and voices are great.
Tales of Monkey Island was a game from back when Telltale was still finding its legs. Tales has a lot of problems. First and most glaring is its storyline. I'll say it: Morgan Leflay is a terrible character. She's that character that the writers obviously want you to like, but is so trite and cliche that you just want her to disappear. This would be fine if it a was a free-fan made title. Unfortunately, they charge for this. Skip it and get Sam & Max or BTTF instead. Even Escape is better than Tales.
