This game is very fun, that is how i can describe my experience. I played through SS4 2 times and i enjoyed it but it wasn't great, there was lot of problems with it. This game however fixes basically everything that was wrong with SS4. I think its my favorite after TFE and TSE.
CDPR was riding on the goodwill from witcher 3 and decided to deliver broken and incomplete game. It is nothing like they advertised for years, no 3rd person cutscenes no choices on how to handle missions apart from the trailer mission wich is the only one that has more choices and even it has been downgraded from the trailer version. Traffic and all physics and animations are much worse than in GTA4 from over decade ago! I get angry when i think about this game and what it could have been. Its still a decent game probably better than most modern copy paste games but it is not a masterpiece like witcher 3 and even 2. I don't have anything else to say. This was the last time i'm buying CDPR game at full price on gog so they get most profit. Next game i will buy wherewer i can get it for the lowest price. If its even worth getting.
I don't really have anything negative to say. The game is really well done all around. Technically the game is good, the graphics are great, cutscenes are done in real time. Only complaints on graphics side is that most of the textures are quite low quality and can sometimes stand up from otherwise great looking game. And graphics options are missing some options, ini tweaking is needed if you want to disable motion blur, film grain and chromatic aberration. Gameplay works pretty well. Combat can get little clunky when fighting multiple enemies because the camera angle is pretty narrow, but i do enjoy the combat after getting used to it.
This was my first time playing 2033. I played Last Light some years ago but decided to pick both Redux versions from Gog and play both. The game looks great, 4A knows how to make a good game engine and it shows. shooting mechanics are solid and story is interesting with good characters. The enviroments are interesting and there is nice variation from dark tunnels to bright city enviroments. If i have to point out some minor negatives they would be: -overused lens flare and more so the fact that there is no way to turn it off -very few graphics options -the main character cannot speak even tho he talks in loading screens, it feels like strange design choice. It's never explained why he can't talk, even some npc's joke about it few times.
This review is based on the Butcher bay remaster i haven't played Dark Athena yet. First some technical info. The game uses opengl so forcing antialiasing or other settings via driver is not simple. Now some things i have figured out, it has working vsync, msaa isn't smoothing all edges so i run the game downsampled from 1440 to 1080 without problems, ssao creates strange dirty layer on screen so i have it disabled, fov is really big and creates little bit of a fish eye effect but i got used to it as for some reason there is no way to change it (at least it is better than narrow fov). The camera is (floaty) and has strange acceleration and makes aiming challenging for both mouse and gamepad unfortunately. The game itself is really good i enjoyed it alot. Being a Riddick fan, i must say the game at least in my opinion stays very true to the character and it's really fun to be Riddick. The stealth mechanics are really good, so are stealth kill mechanics. Fist fights and knife fights on the other hand are not so refined but they aren't that common. Summary: the game works well on my pc (win 7, i5 3570k and r 390) and i think you will like it if you are Riddick fan or like stealth kinda games. This is my favorite movie license game.
