There is so much to love about this game. The art, the environments, the atomosphere, the precision, the exploration, the feeling of becoming a powerful entity in this world... It goes on and on. There are not many flaws, and none of them truly damage the experience. The only turn off I can forsee for some people is that Hollow Knight can be quite unforgiving if you don't get very good at the combat aspects of the game. The biggest consequence of this is the loss of your accumulated Geo, which can be particularly punishing since grinding it back isn't very fun or fast. So if, like me, you lose quite a bit a Geo before unlocking all the upgrades and whatnot, you can be stuck going without them for quite awhile before you naturally recoup Geo back. If you love Ori and the Blind Forest, but wanted more of combat, this game will fill that space for you. Hollow Knight is way more responsive than Ori, because of the quick combat, but the exploration and world discovery is similar. I personally found Hollow Knight's exploring and discoveries more engrossing since it's fine with not handing you it's story if you don't go looking for it. So finding those little details are rewards of their own.
