Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Own the game on steam - beyond broken

Huge performance issues ESPECIALLY on high end systems (just search "stutter" and "freezing" on the steam forums and look at their hardware) that were never fixed. Horrible constant loading times on everything that isnt SSD (ask the PS4 crowd how well their port runs on their HDD systems - check out reddit) And even if the game was performance wise in a state where i would call it playable, the story is bad, one of the worst ever written and there is 0 playerinvolvement in the main story - you can influence it at all. A lot of the systems are barely functional - the bounty system for example is abyssmal. They have like 40-50 bounties in the game and every single quest giver for these only gives them to you ONE AT A TIME and on top of that you have to go back to them personally (they are spread out everywhere on the world) to get your reward everytime. Its a terrible MMO like timesink. Ship combat is abyssmal lots of threads about that, even the studio themself has acknowledged that. And lots of other problems. Unless you have literally played every other game in the genre - stay away from this one and buy Kingmaker/Original Sin/Dragon Age1 or whatever instead. Deadfire is pretty damn bad.

Yooka-Laylee

Poor PC Plarformer

If you want a good PC platformer get "A hat in time"! Extremely poor PC controls Clear console port markers (static camera turn speed for example) PC in general is not even an afterthought here - e.g. no "quit game" in the title menu -> have to alt+F4 At times extremely poor forced camera in general - horizontally locked camera in some platforming sections DO NOT LOCK THE ******** CAMERA IN YOUR ********* PLATFORMER that should be a no brainer They had trouble with the 3D in general - proof: they made the DLC to this 2D. RetroRexArcade - forcing minutes of poor mobile games on me makes your game WORSE not better. To give a bit deeper look at how poorly it is for PC i will give one specific example (of many): In the second world (which they decided should be the ice level with all the amazing "lack of control" slide physics) there is an "Isometric Ice Palace" (to be taken literal). Now the reason why 3D platformers work with keyboard and mouse is because mouse gives excellent camera control and despite only having 8 movement directions you can turn the mouse in a way where your movement angle is always optimal. In this part of the game they force a camera angle that is some weird 30 degree angle to the side. The problem with that is that with mouse and keyboard it is literally impossible to go max speed at this angle because you can not do that with keyboard and the camera is locked (isometric ice palace HAha) Now in that ice palace there is a very small stretch of road where you have to go maximum speed or you will get crushed (instadeath). But as i explained above due to the 30 degree angle this is not possible on PC. You can do that particular section with tapping to the side when rolling because the roll is made in a way where it does not turn immediately so by tapping it you can go just a bit more at the angle the game requires than you normally could. This is potentially gamebreaking levels of PC just not being considered at all during development.

Grim Dawn

Disappointing

I am a fairly casual ARPG player. I finished Diablo 3, played some PoE and had fun with Victor Vran. Out of the ones i played, Grim Dawn is the worst by far. Extremely boring enemies and abilities. Tedious to play. Unless youre a hardcore fan of the genre id say this is a stay the fk away. If you havent played Victor Vran and really want to buy a great budget ARPG, get that instead!

ELDERBORN

Very impressive

The best melee combat in a game to this day and lo and behold its in a 10 Euro game made by a tiny indie studio. The game is outstanding for what it wants to be. Its somewhat short but you probably expected that already considering the price. If you struggle with the first hard section i urge you to push through (you know the one) then go down and grab the spear. The sword is a poor weapon overall and doesnt do the excellent combat justice. Minor gripes: The sword and greatsword are terrible and should never be used. Stopping enemy aggression is way too important and the only way to do that is to parry or to hammerstun them. The game is a bit too gear dependent and since the later areas are more open its easy to miss crucial weapon upgrades. No borderless window, turning on vsync kills my framerate.

Redout: Solar Challenge Edition

dope! xtreme G + F-Zero

This is really dope shit. No other way to say it. It combines the speed of xtreme G with the drift and boost controls of F-Zero All to some kickass techno tunes and flashy neon colours. Very glad i picked this gem up.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Still bugged...

Still bugged... beyond what is tolerable for a game with a shitshow of a savesystem like this one. 2 hard resets in the first 4 hours of play. No savespot anywhere close for the second one.

Shadow Warrior 2 Deluxe

Excellent borderlands-like game

Outstanding gameplay is what makes this game shine. I own the non-deluxe version of the game (in case this doesnt show up as "verified") Quirky dialogue, cool enemies, great graphics for a minor studio, great sounddesign. It has a bit of a borderlands-ish feel to it with better melee but without the added "action skill system". Highly recommended.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Imperial Edition Bundle

One of the best cRPGs ever made.

One of the best cRPGs ever made. Deep customization. Challenging enemy encounter design with a TON of variety going far beyond tank and spank. Astonishing story. Incredible characters. Great overall writing. Lots of impactful choices that lead to very different results. Multiple endings some of which are very hard to achieve. Huge amount of interesting content. Only negatives: While this is an absolute heaven for people who like to spend hours optimizing their party, it can be overwhelming for casual players. I suggest playing on low difficulties or looking up simple and effective builds online. Limited voice acting.

Expeditions: Viking

Decent turn-based indie crpg.

No voice - prepare to read. Immersive storyline with interesting characters and a great "viking" feel to it. Interesting strategy but the combat in particular lacks depth and gets repetetive. Solid audio and graphics. Overall one of the better indie crps but still an indie title. If you want something to sink some hours into and are not averse to reading i would recommend it.

We are the Dwarves

Damages your PC

No graphics options. Makes my PC sound like it is in pain. This usually happens when no frame limiter is implemented and games decides to make my PC try to render 400+ frames per second - i cant check the actual frame numbers because the ingame UI for it doesnt work with this game (and i cant be arsed to install an additional tool). Tried forcing a framecap via Nvidia System tray Vsync options but problem persists. Might also be a completely different problem all along no clue. Either way, not breaking my PC for this. Pisspoor optimization. Would not play this on my PC if they paid me for it.
