Ghost Master

This is great fun!

I played through this game several times. It is one of my favorites. It is funny in itself and you can have great fun with it. I read in the comments that some people have a hard time with some of the missions, but honestly, you need to try multiple times if something is not right. My hint would be to pay attention to the people you are haunting. The behavior changes with their state. NOTE: I don't know about the GOG version 'cause I only played it on Steam yet.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (2008)

It is fun to go 1st-person

I played this game in 1st-person mode because I found the usual point-and-click way a bit confusing. But I must tell you that it is a much more fun experience. I'm missing the quiz after the investigations. Instead, there is only a question from Holmes that you need to answer precisely by typing in the answer. They aren't too hard but can be, and you don't get any hints aside from reviewing what you found. The gfx are fine for the time, and the scenes are very detailed, but it doesn't look right out of the box. The view is stretched to the selected resolution, which is off in both 16:9 and 4:3. You probably need to change the FOV in the settings - at least, that's what I did. I did encounter a bug where some scenes got out of order, and people began to teleport and say the wrong dialog which eventually led to a softlock. Had to re-load a save from before.

Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring

It is worth a playthrough

This was a good one. I've played the first game and can tell you this is much more thought out, both in story and gameplay. I love the sections where, after the investigation, you need to put together the pieces in the form of a quiz. It makes you understand the story better. There was maybe one instance where I couldn't find one clue, which was hard to see. And I wasn't too off in the end with my deduction.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

I can only recommend it

Love the story, love the gameplay. The gfx might discourage some but it is a decent ARPG. And you must play this to learn the most important parts of the story.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

watch a walkthrough video instead!

The game has an excellent atmosphere and is genuinely creepy. But every save, load, and cutscene can crash the game. Sometimes, even interacting with objects does it. I got stuck in place after a cutscene, unable to move, only look. I played for about 3 hours, but it crashed on me a lot. It's unplayable. Do not even consider buying it. It is not worth the effort, and it totally kills the mood. Just watch a playthrough on YouTube instead.
