Caves of Qud

Time consuming, jank controls, onerous

I've found this game to be quite time consuming for little reward. I explored a cave, got to the end, got swarmed and died. I really that's the point of a roguelike, but usually they do not feel so onerous in getting basic stuff done. Part of this is due to the controls. They are jank. They predominantly rely on arrow or numberpad movement, and also mouse clicks. It's so frustrating; we have wasd as movement so a mouse can easily be used in the right hand. You can customise controls though. However, everytime you want to pick something up two keys need to be pressed, then each item needs to be highlighted individually and clicked on, then clicked on again to pick up. It's just a deadweight in getting stuff done. And then you die. This could probably be fixed with modding but it seems that cannot be done on the GOG version. I regret this purchase.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Auto-save + missable chests = terrible

A big motivation for getting this game is the Golden Chest which unlocks features and cards in Gwent. What you are not told is that these chests are missable, and that if you do miss them on your first play-through, for eample because you decide to play blind without a guide to get the most of the story, then you are up a certain brown creek without a proverbial paddle. The only choice left is to start again. Whoever decided that was a great idea is an idiot. The story is a drag, the maps are big and the walking slow. I can't recommend this game to anyway.
