... outdated 2D graphics and constant loading screens. And also an amazing experience, full of personality, with a well crafted world and lore, and an engaging plot. The good outweighs the bad by such amount that you soon forget its faults. The game is in dire need of a remaster, as some small tweaks in its mechanics could elevate it much more in quality, and also approach this forgotten gem to newer generations. The PC version, although originally inferior, can be on par with the PS1 version thanks to the unofficial Verok's patch. It's even better actually, as any relatively recent PC makes the loading times almost non existent. Can't wait to continue my journey into the Legacy of Kain series with Soul Reaver.
... not one of its best, though. The artstyle and the music are gorgeous, as always, but in the puzzle department it's not as interesting as other titles by the studio. I appears the target audience for this title are children, which is perfectly fine, but keep you're expectations at bay. If you like Amanita Design, it's short and worth a try. If you've never played any of their games, start with Machinarium, Botanicula or the Samorost games.
