A quirky puzzle-action-platformer with a charming aesthetic, and unique storyline. Marred only by some finicky controls, and the occasional lack of clarity as to what you should be doing. Gameplay doesn't deviate much from puzzles, platforming, or combat. However, there is enough variety to keep it from every feeling stale. Secondary objectives focus on hunting down different kinds of collectibles. These provide a direct gameplay benefit, or reveal more about the different characters; making collecting them worth it. The setting and characters steal the show. The quality voice acting, writing, and character designs make even the lesser characters memorable. A game that's definitely worth your time.
They will die, make no doubt every one of your men will be shot down many times, but your never cheated, every time they die it's the players fault no cheap tricks here. To be frank this is a hard yet fair game the perfect mix between having quick paced reflexes and, thoughtful strategy, well done animations and, gorgeous levels make this game one that should be in everyone's collection
At time of writing this review ive spent 100+ hours sending my charectera around doing quests and, killing monsters and, in that time i've yet to even see the end of the game, so I hope you have plenty of time to play this becuase your going to need it, especially if your going to replay with different charecters and, races, enjoy the online play, and, go through the story again to make different disicions, so what are you waiting for, go buy this game, call in sick and, buckle down and, just play
Very few Rpg's have ever gone to unique places, especially those who are set in a fantasy realm, but Arcanum does things differently, this time all of the familiar Orcs, Elfs, Humans, Dwarves, etc are stuck in a jolly old industrial revolution, and with this it brings an amazing abundance of gameplay, and, charecter development, are you a thief that uses magic? A warrior that uses technology? How about a Wizard that uses swords, and technology to help him in, battle? And if you choose to be a wizard well then what kind of spells are you going to use? With so many possiblities, a streamlined RPG system thats easy to learn, but hard to master, combat that can be either turned base for classic RPG fans, or real time if your perfer a more diablo style combat, and once you start your charecter are you gong to be good or evil? Are you going to rob the bank and, skip town or, take out the bandits? Are you going to cave that orcs skull in, or shiv him in the back? Magic or sword? Good or evil? The desicion is your and, with charecters that respond to your actions, a world thats great to explore and, greater to look at, combat thats both chalenging yet fun, and, a story that is quite enjoyable with little hicups, I say that you would be doing yourself a great injustice if you didn't but this game.
OMG kill it kill it kill it kill it with FIRE!!! Is something that you will find yourself saying in this gem of a RPG, very few games portray a place thats so wonderfully horrible to be in than Fallout, as you explore this radiated wasteland you will find that sometimes your best friend can be a dog and, a high powered rifle, becuase this isn't your happy nuclear hell hole with mutants bidding you how do you do instead everyone and, everything you meet is either trying to kill you, eat you, or trying to get you to leave, and since this world isn't the friendilest place your going to need to grow and, train to survive, with a plethera of skills to train you can be anything from a sledgehammer wielding maniac, a "slow" yet strong gunner, a crack shot with a fast mouth, or a sneaky commando introducing Mr. Knife to Miss. Jugular on regular occasion, and, if your not the combat kind of person then your going to need sidekicks while controling them and, giving them orders is completely absent , they still endear themselves to you leading to much realoding when one of your companions die, speaking of becoming a corpse thats something that you will do with quite regularity early on, as this isn't a game that holds your hands, throwing only rats at you early on, this is the kind of game where you can just start it and, die only 20 minutes in, but it never becomes frustrating as even if you die your treated to some of the greatest death animations, with a resounding ARRGH! and, violent splatter of gore, thats so strangly rewarding, that youll start picking fights just to see it, and, fighitng is something that isin't even required because through smart choice of the skills you use, you could probably go the whole, game without having to kill anything yourself, and, you'll wan't to go through this game to find the water chip to save your vault becuase when you think it ends, it kicks up an awsome second half, and, an ending so incredible that any frustration you might have had makes it feel worth it, and, unlike most games where your forced into combat even if you don't specialize in it, to see the ending this dosn't force you to do anything you can't do to finish the game, no matter what you did to get to the end you, can use those skills you worked so hard to get to finish it and, it will feel worth it, and after your done you will wan't to play again, and again, just so you can see everything that the game has to offer, because it has a lot to offer so what are you waiting for?
