Let's start from positive sides of the game: the new adventure with Adol, new interesting and sometimes funny heroes abilities (especially cat-runs >^_^< on the buildings), a good story. This game is a nice addition to Ys series. Still, unfortunately, I would rate it as 3.5/5 for two reasons: 1. The game is too short, it took me just 43 hours to almost fully complete the game (missed 1 box and 1 event). After Ys VIII and recent Trails games this was unexpected a bit. It would not be a big deal if not the next item 2. The game is sold at full price without any regional discounts. I do understand why Trails of Cold Steel IV costs 60$ (and I actually bought a Deluxe on release there), or Lacrimosa of DANA costs the same, but the same price for Monstrum Nox looks unjustified, especially after the game end. In the end, if you a fan of the Ys series, I assume you've already bought it :), for everyone else you may wait for a reasonable discount, or look on Lacrimosa of DANA, if you didn't play it before
...even Re;Birth2 was more consistent... So, after a long break a new game from Neptunia series came to Gog, but unfortunately in VIIR version, and it have noticeable disadvantages compared to Re;Birth series. 1) New battle system is a joke, you don't need to think how to build your attack chain, just spam with Special attacks which are effectively free now, and insta-kills almost any enemy, or several of them. Through all game I had only 1 or 2 challenging fights with bosses, and some challenging fights via Guild. All others were "Special -> select any attack -> target and press button -> win". Boring. 2) In addition to above, there is an automatic heal after *each* fight, not on dungeon exit. Seriously? 3) No difficulty levels. Just "Very easy". Game genre is really Visual Novel, not JRPG. You just roll through story without any challenges. And no, I didn't use any "sponsored" DLC items. 4) Only single automatic save point The most annoying consequence of above is that game have a lot of items/plans/attacks/combos, but they are completely not needed. But if you don't care about all above, this game could be good for you :) So let's talk about positive things in this game: 1) Many familiar faces are here, and several good new ones 2) 2xNeptune with her adult version 3) Next CPU forms 4) Story in general is better than Re;Birth2, but weaker than Re;Birth1 or Re;Birth3 5) And of course a lot of funny and laughable moments :) 6) Soundtrack is also very good, too bad that it is not available on Gog Two words about VR scenes: they may be interesting for series fans, but generally they didn't add anything useful to the game PS: don't try Neplunker Zero without Flag Jump, you have no chances (or too much free time)
