Today was the first time i played this game and i really like it so far. EVEN NICER that it takes place in Eberron, a world only seen in DDO besides this game. Graphics are decent for it's time. Plays well right away after install. Works well.
I've been playing this game for 3 days straight, now, and while it has such potential, all i ever notice is pathfinding bugs, my inn never getting clean, and running out of supplies way too soon and way too fast, no matter how much farming or trading i do. This game right now is NOT READY FOR MAINSTREAM and is a BETA at best. It HAS gotten better since the earliest reviews in 2019, but sadly all the reviews in 2020 are ALL CORRECT + and then some. This game needs to be re-evaluated in 1-2 more years from now. Kinda wish i had not wasted my money just yet! :( I do enjoy the game but the rest of it -- what i am complaining about now -- really takes a lot away from my enjoyment! :(
BUYER BEWARE! First let me say i LOVE this game and as a game, itself, it is SUPERB all by itself. BUY THIS GAME if you have an older PC or if you run Virtual Box / VMware and love to play old stuff without risk of bugs or system instability. HOWEVER, IF YOU DO NOT run such a setup, then listen closely: This game works GREAT on OLDER versions of Windows. And Compatibility Mode DID NOT WORK for me (for long) in Windows 7 or 10. The game WILL RUN under Windows 7 (vista, 8, 10... were not tested), but it will ONLY run for a little while, and then, suddenly, your game will CTD (Crash to Desktop) out of the blue and seemingly at random. MY ADVICE to ANYONE who gets this game, is to search for a solution to PREVENT that from happening. ONE of the issues this game might have is Processor Affinity (the game was made before the era when dual-core or many-core CPUs were so prevalent, so i think it tends to run on only 1 core. IF you adjust the properties of the RUNNING executable WHILE IN GAME, with a program like Process Explorer, and set the Affinity to ALL of your cores instead of just 1, THAT MIGHT fix the problems you may encounter in Windows 7 or higher. I say "MIGHT" because i STILL had CTD's when / after having done this.) WHAT TRULY needs to be done to this game, is to have someone (a fan modder or someone at or from the old EA / Maxis team) look at the executable and see if they can fix the bug that DOES CAUSE this game to CTD at random under Windows 7. I am fairly sure that if that same problem happens under 7, then it should also happen under 8 and 10 too. But YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary).
