Game starts great. Interesting story, basic but "cool" characters. This is 100% linear xcom - you do not choose missions, just go through them 1 by 1. Gameplay is like Mutant Year Zero - you go through map in real time, and when you meet enemy, xcom-like turn-based combat starts (you can also split team or try to sneak but it is very basic, hard and can only help you get better positions pre-fight, rather than avoiding fight completely). There is no EXP. You "level-up" through weapons and bio-crystals you find. Bio-crystals increase your AP, HP, Accuracy or Dodge and majority of them have extra passive buffs/debuffs or active skills. Some are totally op, like allowing you to attack twice with 1 attack, but most is completely useless. Sometimes you find alien artifacts on map which allow you to unlock 2-3 slots for more biocrystals (you can "spend" unlocks and choose which character should have his slot unlocked and how many). Warning: some characters leave your team later, so be wise who gets slots unlocks to not waste them. You cannot sell unnecessary weapons. Ammo is very limited and many times I had to stop using new cool weapon and go back to basic pistol because I did not have enough ammo. You can craft ammo and medkits but resources are very scarce and there is barely enough to craft few rounds for next fight and you are constantly low on scrap which is necessary for most of crafting projects. Unfortunately after few first hours game gets very repetitive. I pushed myself to finish it just to see how story unfolds but it was road through hell. There were leveles where there was one fight after another without any story or interesting pick-ups in between. You fight same enemy types with same weapons and same characters, only thing changing are arenas. If you loved Mutant Year Zero or XCOM - try it. But in my opinion this is one-time-only adventure. I am too tired to ever go back to this game again. And story was not that interesting in the end :(
Game runs very bad even on lowest settings. Latest version still having issues with optimisation on rtx3070. Barely 100fps on high end pc rig on 1080p. Even changing graphics settings crashes game. Game crashes often which makes it unplayable because you do not even get to complete 1 day of game before it crashes during the day. It had nice potential but seemed boring. You run around farm doing simple tasks but struggle with fps drops and crashes and too low stamina - so you have to run very slowly to not deplete stamina. I am too old to fight with games so I will just try some other game rather than wait for them to finally patch this properly. But I guess you could not expect quality from Unity engine, until some experienced developer makes use of this engine. Mooneaters IMO are not experienced developers and hence these issues. I wish game was made on Unreal or something else more stable.
Combination of FPP (few minutes) and TPP (~6 hours) exploration of books. Game is just about visiting worlds, talking to characters, finding items, combining them and progressing further thanks to found information, keys and crafted tools. There is also simple turn-based combat mechanic where you choose to drain ink (mana), attack or defend. You can craft ink potions and find healing items to make fights easier. All items are removed from your inventory after you finish mission. Between missions you have option to upgrade 1 skill, imposed by game. I forgot about this upgrade mechanic (you have to use book in real world) and almost finished game without it. So fighting is not really a challenge, but fun little “activity” to mix into gameplay. Greatest thing in this game are different worlds and story – I find it VERY hard these days to get engaged in 90% of games. This game worlds and main character glued me to screen and forced me to complete this game, just to know what will happen next. Characters were not very memorable but feeling of exploring new world with every new book was unforgettable. This reminds me of great old RPGs like planescape torment, baldur’s gate or witcher 1 where you sank into fantasy worlds and were overjoyed with feeling of exploration. I hope they will release many great games in future. P.S. If I had to point out any flaws: a) problems with visibility – sometimes you can miss possible path due to camera positioning b) no ability to auto-zoom camera. You can zoom in manually after every screen transition, but default is unnecessarily zoomed out even in 1080p c) there is no button to highlight all possible interaction points. This is not pure point and click adventure game so I guess it is not realistic to expect it. d) game has illusion of choice like telltale games. In reality choices do not matter and lead to same outcomes, except for player morality state which might be slightly better or worse after doing specific interactions.
Cute couple, cute interactions, simple but engaging gameplay. I have one of my best memories with this game. It does not seem great on screenshots and gameplays but spending time on it is much better than on annoying platformers or boring logical games.
Game reminds me of half life 2 beginning - you have small amounts of ammo, enemies can easily kill you, you feel constantly hunted, almost as in horror game. There are also simple physics puzzles (use valve, stack boxes etc.). Font is probably “borrowed” from Dishonored. Unfortunately game is unstable, sometimes crashes or lags, performance on GTX1070 and i7 is terrible – drops to 30/40 fps at 1080p. In smaller areas fps can go up to 110. Thankfully developers are constantly trying to fix that, increasing performance and removing obvious bugs (like spawning below map if you saved while having axe equipped instead of guns). Checkpoints even on easy are too rare – it would not be a problem, because you do not die often. Unfortunately crashes make you repeat game fragments for no reason. I ignored performance problems and bugs and tried to enjoy story because it is really good and intriguing since beginning. Unfortunately it ended half way and I am left with disappointment. Game atmosphere is really good - deserted city, no obvious way to go, but open doors make it easy to navigate further most of the time. Maybe 1-2 times I did not know where to go next and had to circle around for few minutes. Not sure what to tell you – buy game so creators can make 2nd part and finish story? Or do not buy this game to not promote releasing half-games? It has potential, it has atmosphere, but performance can make it unplayable for you and is disappointingly short - 3h max.
Waste of time. Short game about man regretting his cooperation with mob (disposing of bodies through pigs). He has sick wife and angry son and wants to die because... well no-one knows. Mob guy talks with you for about an hour why you want to give it all up and then game ends without any choice.
You cannot click on portraits to switch characters, only tab works. You cannot confirm shoot action by space like game says, you have to click. However you confirm overwatch with space. Turns do not auto end. Camera only has 90 degrees rotations which in this particular game is annoying because of bad camera angles all the time. Characters movement and overall battle speed are slow. When you enter battle characters go into predetermined positions so you cannot influence where somebody goes. Music has its good moments. You can move or enter overwatch after shooting which is really nice. You do not have to reload ammo in guns – it is infinite. Overall clunkiness of game made me get rif od it in 3rd mission when new equally weak characters are introduced. This game was not fun for me. It was struggling and repeating room by room to guess correct combination of moves which would give you win. Go back to XCOM and have real fun dear players.
Another weak "This war of mine" clone Characters can only gather wood, food, junk or charge base battery. Or study any of these skills if it is not developed to max in that character. And they need to eat and sleep sometimes. You gather junk for your whole game until you have enough junk to repair rocket and go. No dialogues, just text, really limited audio. It seems more like beta of something bigger than completed game. Really short. 4h max - not worth max price. UI is annyoing - you have to scroll left/right constantly to check health/food parameters of a character which is on the opposite side of the map.
