The game world itself is not bad, but I hardly can call it a game. First, survival elements are here just to annoy you. Second, there are not much to do while you are waiting for the storm to end or the sun to rise. The story is just meh and the ending is underwhelming. The game has nothing to provide except mundane walking and the most annoying way to experience the story through the reading of tons of stone plates.
I tried to love it, but I can`t even play it without getting furious! Confusing story, hidden in the upgrades of your weapons, unskippable annoying commentaries of your companion, and repetitive pause-abusing combat gameplay. I hate it!
This game is the best example of stunning level design, amazing character design, and overall art quality. But it sucks at some game design decisions. For example, you need to use some skills of your characters to pass some gates, but it is happening few times and looks like an annoyance than a feature. Some places are hard to navigate due to some crazy-ass platforms. And, oh, you can`t turn off directors commentary... Still this game worth its money. Before I bought this game, I didn`t know that there is one huge, spectacular world which is really fun and rewarding to explore. So I got this going for me, which is nice.
The main character of the game is a small round creature on four small legs living in the childish world with other round creatures on small legs. How cool is that? So cool. What could be even more indie? Nothing! The game is worth playing for its childish approach and style. Despite having classic gameplay it has so many lovely details and very well crafted world. I would recommend it as a relaxing game for a controller.
70 hrs to beat it - the game is really intense! This is an excellent game. With its story, fights, graphics, gameplay mechanics, other stuff I would recommend it as must play. BUT! There are few flaws which add spoon of shit to the honey barrel: 1. Battles are interesting overall but massive fights are infuriating in the late game. You can not skip or speed up enemy movement so 80% of time you just watching how they are buffing each other before their imminent death on my move; 2. Puzzles are ok but in the end of the game, you will encounter the most stupid and annoying ones. Ending part is a bit disappointing; 3. The final boss looks like an escort mission. It has driven me crazy! 4. The game world very ambiguous. You can speak with chickens, search for the zombie-sheep, have some cheesy conversations while everything is covered in blood, piles of corpses, puddles of blood, impaled corpses, bloody sacrifices and rotten piles of bloody corpses. Still glad I have played this gem.
Game nicely starts with stealth but with progression it more like reflex based run-and-gun. Long story short, game lacks of diversity in level design and game features. You will quickly understand simple behavior of enemies and start abusing its stupidity. Deadbolt worth its price and can be fun, but not expect too much.
Game involves you by really good looking city, good music, great design and loveable details. You will spot many ways to complete the missions, you will enjoy diverse districts and will fall in love with every citizen you will meet. And you will forgive those routine fights, lack of creativity in story and completely empty, simple quests. But then you will see BUGS, lots of them. Those naughty little situations which completely destroys mood. Notning critical but annoying. Annoying till you start hating your stupid agents, which continiously shoot into walls and do retarted things! Bugged pathfinding near different objects, stucked enemies, selection problems etc. Then you will spot problems in overall game balance. You will start with stealth, then you will suffer from useless agents and constant reloading will be your best friend. When you will level up you can forget about stealth at all because you have big guns and lots of the same quests to do! Do i need to say somethig about combat? It`s bad. There is cover system but agents shoot at retarted AI over occupied cover just standing still. Intense combat situations affect game perfomance at usability level. Boring. And after all of it I got really messed up ending! It`s not bad, but it was not tested and polished as it should be.
