This is the t h i r d time I bought those games. I bought the original gold box versions (most from a bargain bin at the local games shop), the Forgotten Realms Archives with all the games on cd rom in the nineties - with a nice book containing all journals that I still own today although I somehow lost the cds - and now the gog version. If you can cope with dated graphics you definitely should try out at least some of the games in this collection. I always liked most that you could import your characters from game to game, making the PoR Saga a really, really long game! For an extra challenge try out to beat PoR with a party of mages ;) Very hard at first, but once you advance them to the other games, you will have a real blast - pun intended.
As a gamer, you owe it to yourself to play this game. Bastion is gaming art, nearly perfectly executed. Logan Cunningham's performance as the narrator is surpassed by none. The soundtrack is amazingly awesome. In fact, I listen to it while I write this review. The graphics are nice and will date well. As to gameplay and the other reviews about the game being too simple: the game gives you full control about how difficult the game will be for you. Ten ingame options exist that increase the challenge -and the rewards- immensely. It's a wonderful system that many games should have. Thus, everyone, from children to completionist-level players will get a rewarding experience, although the story is clearly aimed at a more mature audience (I'd give it a pg/13+ rating, but only because I fear younger ones will have difficulty following the plot, since it's a story to think about). You should definitely play this game with a controller, that's how the creators meant it to be played. To all non-gamers: Gaming is an art form. Bastion is a good example of this fact. Get used to it.
The game is really promising. XCOM remodernized. A ton of nice and deep options, and a lot closer to the 1994 original than the new Enemy Unknown / Within. However, there is one thing that all TV users should know: The game has unscalable fonts, and they are way too small! On a large HD TV, the game is utterly unplayable, even if you play on lower resolutions. What a shame. So, add 3-4 stars if you play on a monitor. Nowadays the font size should not be an issue!
