GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

After 2 years beta? Disappointing!

Gwent has several strong points. The balance is good and there are various deckbuilding options, but most importantly it's easy for a new player to collect cards. You can probably get a couple tier 1 decks as a free to play newbie in like a month if you know what you're doing. However, the transition from beta to full release feels like more of a step backwards than forwards in several aspects. I will mention the biggest issue: time. Compared to closed beta, the game plays several times slower. Since beta: there are now 16 turns instead of 14. You can no longer drag and drop cards. Half of the cards, and most leaders are "Orders" cards, which means you have to click on them again to use their ability. You're forced to click the end turn button, instead of an auto-pass. Last and probably worst, every single thing has some dinky animation that takes way too long to resolve, and you're forced to watch it since you can't even do anything as it plays. Even when I want to spend time playing, the game wastes my time. Does CDPR really want me to play gwent, or do they want me to look
