Apparently this is a classic. So bought it with to try and make my own mind. This was a SNES game, so it's pretty simple in term or graphics and gameplay. There is no dialogue, all the story is tell my the interaction with you companion and the environment. This is a die and retry game in a maze. Control a simple, run, walk, crouch and shoot. This is a frustrating game more than it's difficult. sometimes you don't se what you can do to go to the next level. You have to do action in the specific ordre in order to suceed. In term of art and sound design, it probably was a wonder back in the days on SNES. A must play if you're an adept of retro gaming. Else, if you don't like die and retry and puzzles i don't recommand you this game.
This is a good demo. In term of artistic direction, sound design and gameplay i'm conviced. Resolving a case seems much more complicated than just talking to everyone and clicking on the right choice showed by the game. You have to talk to people, interact with machine, question, make hypothesis and inspect the many solution to the crime you're solving. You have to think and do the best job you can to uncover the truth. I enjoyed the demo, even if i'm not a english native speaker so it's quite difficult to follow sometimes.
It's a two hours game where you follow a child trying to escape is loneliness by rescuing a bird. This is a sequel of "To the Moon". The word game is discutable beause the interaction with the player is more than minimalistic. You walk and take objects. That is all. You can have more than two minutes without touching your keyboard and watching the game telling you his story. In the end it's more an interactive movie than an interactive game. Personnally i think it's a shame because you have this wonderful medium, the video game, that allows you to involve the player with interactions and .... you don't use this primordial mechanic. Netherless the story is really beautiful and i enjoyed it. If you played the game "To the moon" you will like this one. If you didn't but don't mind the nearly non-existent gameplay and if you like story driven game, you should try it.
Where do i start ? I never played a game like this before. Never. The gameplay is hard to describe. You can walk, click an drag but those simple mechanics are just exploited in some unique way. I couldn't explain you more without spoiling the game. This is a story about time and love. You try to save the woman you love by messing with time. A book or a movie would have make good story but in a game, this is another level. Through this medium and the interaction with the player, they can tell their story in a unique way. This game is showing that the storytelling of the videogame is not fully exploited and that so much more can be done. The art is quite confusing at first but you get use to it and the result is an incomparable immersion. The music is really nice and the jazzy ambiance is really beautiful. Jazz and space/time go well together. I feel like some part are inspired by great scifi movies like "Interstellar" and "2001 : A Space Odyssey" (everyone has his opinion). The main of the story is divided in chapter, each one with a different gameplay, that is why describing you the gameplay is so hard. Each time you start a chapter you wonder what this one will be about, what time will it be, what will you learn. This is very rare to have this element of surprise nowadays. I admit there is some issues with rythme in the last part of the game but that's not a big deal. I will say nothing more about the end only that i liked it. It took me almost 7 hours to finish and i will do it again with pleasure because i didn't understand some part. It's one of those game you need to do several time to catch all the detail. If you like Jazz and scifi, you should definitly play this game. If you don't you should try anyway because of the unique experience the game offer, and it will me a shame to miss it. Try to surpass stereotype of point and click game you give this gem a chance. I don't guaranty you will like it, and that's understandable.
This is the continuation of the first game. I liked the first one very much and was curious to see what hapenned next. I'm not dissapointed. You play ARID trying to survive and unknow enemy trying to kill her. Doing so she will encouter other robots, and change them through the game. The story is really clever, well writen with deep questioning. This is the strong side of this game for sure. The way ARID evolve and bring back into question her desicion is interesting. The gameplay is okay, but could be better. There is two type of combat, in the real world and the digital one. The last one is tricky especially with the final boss. The first, the combat system with "One" is the best because simple, stylish, but not to easy at first. The puzzle part is still here and the voice acting is incredible, especially for the butler. The voice bring life to those robots make you care for them. Some Blackspot : in the digital world you have a plateform level design. It's quite a maze and i lost like 20 minutes in the middle of the game trying to find my way. Control are not good and you will struggle turning your character to the left or to the right. The game execution isn't great, there are somme flawes. If you like well writen story about IA and robots, don't mind a decent gameplay and puzzles go for it. I hope for a third game with a better technicality and a step up in graphics.
This is quite an introduction to the game. The mystery is here and for about 20 minutes gameplay you will have a glimpse of the story. This is a game based on puzzle with a very minimalistic control : go left, go right, interact. The main of what you learn is through dialogue and environmental narration. The music really is beautiful and the pixel art make the atmosphere gore without being scary. Overall a short demo laying the fundation of the gameplay and telling just enough thing to make you want know more.
The game is fun, the heroin is sexy sure, but that's not enough. The first part of the game is cool, you learn the basics and the enemies aren't to tuff. but more you progress to the end more its get difficult (well it's normal, but here, without some cheat code it will be a pain in the *** to finish it) Don't get me wrong i don't mind difficulty but when you need cheatcode this isn't the right kind of difficulty. The dev let this cheatcode option so that mean they are perfectly aware their game isn't well balanced. The part in the middle of the game, in the mine could have been shorter. You do basically the same thing twice (looking for explosives and detonators). In the final act you have to eliminate another list of targets right after finishing the first one, to much repetivity. This is an old kind of game, where you fight nazis and zombies nazis. You can add to that the bouncing breats, the moaning when you suck blood to regain life, the great cleavage and tight clothes of all women and you have oversexualized women character. At least there is coherence because all of the are vampire, so the sexualization is a part of the vampire women thing as often. I don't recommand it if you didn't play the game when it came out in 2002.
Yes, after a failed third game, Sybéria III i was really anxious but excited when i learned about this new one. This is good, really. The graphics are really cool, the light/musics is beautiful. I love the story taking place in two different time. The dialogue, voice acting are good and finally, finally we have a living world, not an empty one like in precedent game. For the puzzle part, it was quite simple, i think this will be like the third game, more story and cinematics driven, but i hope for some challenge too. I hope the point and click puzzle gameplay will be back and updated to match the new maturity the game seems to have gained. The gameplay is fluid and without but, ereasing the painfull memeory of syberia III. I will wait for this game impatiently.
I'm really sad because this could have been a really great game. The story installed in the first two is solid, Kate is an interesting character with a good development and i was looking forward this third episode. Musics are nice, and voice acting is well done. I liked the story, at least for the part i could play (i will comme back on that point later). Serious theme are approached : racism, alcoholism, our morden life style. The first part of the game is cool. You wake up in a clinic, and try to escape and then explore a new village : valsembor. Doing so you will team up with a young youkol and other protagonists. But this game suffer one major problem : it's buggy. When you interact with object to resolve puzzle, the game zoom on them. One in two the mouse dissapear and you can't left click anywere. So you have to go back by dezooming (right click) and click everywere to make the mouse reappers. This is really annoying and make even more harder to resolve puzzle. Sometimes animations don't start and you're stuck and have to restart your game. After 3 hours of game, i was stuck on a cinematic, with no way to unstuck myself. So i had to restart the game form the beginning,.. i was frustrated but i wanted to know more about the story. But after 5 hours, stuck again at the end of a cinematics, I can't play, i'm stuck in the cinematics who doesn't want to end. I really don't wan't to restart the game another time, replay 8 hours and getting stuck again. Don't get me wrong i love Syberia and the first two games, and i really wanted to love this one. But the weak gameplay, the lack of fluidity and the bugs i met make it really painfull to play and for me impossible to finish. I hope with the next game : Syberia: The World Before Prologue, the dev will learn of their mistakes and make the great game they could have done with this one. I you're a fan of syberia i recomand you buy it on sale. If you don't know the licence i don't recommand you this game.
This demo is really immersive with a lot of reading to tell you the basis of the universe. So you need to take your time a let the game tell you his story. It's an FTL like with some pixel art graphics and 3D style combats. A lot of information to take in so i was a little lost at the beginning. I really recommand you play it before you buy the game, because it's a good introduction, and if you don't like it, just dont buy it. For my part, i'm conviced !
