Truely a game that feels good to play because of his perfect fighting system, his musics and story. You play a crow and your job is to reap souls. The gameplay is simple, you have melee and ranged attack, you can parry, run and dodge. All the enemies and bosses are differents in their design and attack pattern, making the game challenging but fun. Sure you will die a lot, but like any oher souls-like game, you lear parttern get better and ultimatly, win. However, unlike souls, you don't loose the souls you recolt so the gaming experience is much more easy and less frustrating. The only way to heal is to find seed and plant them is jars intelligently placed. The level design is well done, and by unlocking new skills you will have acess to new area on the levels you already did. The music is f****** awesome, each level has its own theme and identity and really make the game epic in the fight, Some blackspots : due to the isometric style there is sometimes confusion in the persepective. There is no map so you can get lost, and because there is a lot of backtracking this can be frustrating after some time. If you like isometric game style, challenging fight and epic music go for it.
This is one of those game about loss in a relationship. The drawing is beautiful and there is only music, no voices. Riddles and puzzles are well made, not to frustrating but just hard enough to make you think. The game is two tours long, a perfect duration, because the music is quite repetitive, and at the end i was kind of annoyed by it. If you played and liked "Florence" and riddles, you will like this game.
I had a good time. The greastest thing about the game is the story, the characters and the world. Really one of the most immersive game i've played this far. The sister-brother relationship is well done and makes you care about them. The voice acting is perfect (in french at least, but i've heard the same about the english one). Now come the tricky part : the gameplay. It's fun and pretty simple but not quite as good as i hoped for the stealth side. You are in a classic stealth game, were the IA is, i must say, dumb, where you can hide yourself in tall bushes etc.. On the other hand you have the rats, the big ennemy : they can't go into the light, therefore a part of the gameplay is about light and the paths you can create with torches, fire etc.... Through the game you will learn new skills, but they come handy in one or two situations and never use them again after. They are some really good ideas but you feels that they were knew to this and that it could have been much better. In conclusion the gameplay is weak but do his job, and the story and the atmosphere that the dev built is incredible and make you live a good story with well written characters. I can't wait for the next game, where i hope they improved the gameplay.
What a nice game ! You own a shop specialized in plant. All the gameplay is about finding, identifying and sell those plants. Each one of them have a specific effect, a unique appearance, smell, etc.. You have a book, basically your bible with a list of plants to identify, by their description. You can label the one you found and you have a mapto explore the small world. The gameplay is well made, challenging, and if you're stuck you can ask for help. The story is good, but a little hard to follow.She is given throught interactions with people visiting the shop and needing your help . They will ask for a plant, or give you puzzles, enigmas, clues to follows leading to more plants or entry to your book. Therefore, you will have bits of story, and between lots of thinking to solve those riddles. So it's difficult to follow the plot. The music and sound design are perfect, chilly and mysterious. Some blackspot : there is only english, deutsh, russian or chinese. If your motherthong isn't one of them you may struggle to understood some parts and specific vocabulary. Took me 10 hours to finish, and i have only one ending. There are 8 possibles ending. I will gladly play it again some times later to found the others. Plus you can pet the cat.
I must say that i enjoyed it. The level design, the feeling of the weapons and the abilities, are well made and the best part is to combine them, making tests, exploring all the possibilities the gameplay has to offer. You really feel free to progress the way you want to. Wanna play exclusively with the weapons, deal. You want to exploit the powers and explore the map disguise as cup, deal. The clever level design and games mechanics allows it. The story is good, but if you want to really learn more about the lore the only way is to read note and emails scatterred all around the map. There is a lot of sides quests, really interresting that gives you rewards and lore explanations. However, i find the story a bit clunkya the end, when an completly new protagonist appears out of nowhere adding nothing relevant to the story, feeling that it was here just to make the experience longer. Took me 30h to complete, without the dlc. Overall a good game, if you like immersive sim, and scifi story and reading.
This game is hard. Each time you die you loose all the equipment collected during your trip, keeping only soul, weapons and object that will be added to the forge at the begining of each run. Souls collected unlock skills. Plus, there are secret to find that will improve your stat definitly. The map is not procedural, so you can explore as you wish, find all the hidden objects. The weapons are in number : spear, sword (two of one hand), shield, magic, bow, knives, scourge, etc.. depending on you playstyle. The gameplay is simple, you can hit, dodge and parry (depending on your gear) but jump is impossible. Each time you make a move (expect run), you consume your endurance. When you have no more endurance, you can't do anything and hace to wait for it to come back. Like a souls game, you will have to learn the enemy pattern to progress. There are 17 bosses to beat, each one of them with is own style, design, pattern. This is the best part of the game : the felling of progression is nice, as you learn the boss moves progressing into killing it. To make your task easier you will have teleportation hotel to activate, so you don't have to do all the path again if you die and return to the begining ( warning : one hotel can be activate at a time!!). The story is there, desseminated on the map, there is just enough lore to keep you interested. The graphics are good, and animation are fluid so that if you observe well, you can lear patterns easily. Some blackspot : you can't remap your keyboard and adujst the sound. There is a gap of difficulty at the final boss. All the others bosses, you get a nice felling of progression, but for him that is another story. Attack pattern are more random, you will need to dodge or parry more, therefore with big weapons that uses more endurances are almost no use. If you like dark souls game and 2D platformers go for it. It took me 25h to beat all the bosses, but i didn't find all the secrets. I encounters no bugs, nor crashs. The game has been fixed, so don't take into acount all the bad review about that.
The art of the game is really good, and i enjoyed runing through each panel. You will have to solve riddles in order to progress. Almost all of them are time based, therefor if you ain't got the timing you will die. And in this game, you die a lot. But the game repeat itself and at some point, the background story telling and various riddle isn't enough to stimulate you. It could have been one or two hours short and it took me almost 6 hours to beat. If you like strange universe, no talking and time limited puzzles, go for it.
Like is predecesor, this game imersion is perfect. This time you will have a companion. Thankfully, the IA is good and your little friend will not cause your death by walking toward an ennemy. The story is expanding the universe of the game and a lot of game is outside and in a big city. However, this game can be played not knowing the first one therefore you can play the 2 games in the order you want, it will not alter your experience. The gameplay is evolving : this time you will have to fight. The idea is good but the cluncky controls are still there making the experience painfull at some point, especially when there is a timing to respect. I recommand you play with a controller if you can. Consequently, a dimension of die and retry is introduced in the game. Also, introducing fighting element the game become less scary because you have the hability to fight back. Parts where you're really afraid are when you have no choices apart from run and escape. Knowing that, i feel that they abused the gimmick putting chasing sequence everywhere. But the artistic direction nailed to need so personnaly, it didn't bother me much. Took me 10 hours to complete. If you like horror game with and don't mind the die and retry thing, go for it.
You live in a vegetable world as a turnip. The story is simple but efficient. The control are a bit clunky, when you hit you can not move and you have to way to select an item iin your inventory is not that easy when you need to be fast. There are little sides quests, allowing you to have more hp and learn about the lore. Talking with all the inhabitant gives you well written dialogue. To be noted that there is no menu resuming the quests, you have to read and remember carefully what you're been told. Short game to be completed under 5 hours. If you like simple gameplay and pixels go for it.
I enjoyed myself playing this game. The gameplay is fun, nervous and the animations are really incredible and fluid, especially when you take down someone. Graphics are beautiful, all in painted style : you can see the brushstroke adding something special and unique. There are magnificent moments where you run, just run with the landscape and the music. The fight system is simple to learn. It's all about timing. Mashing the mouse button won't make any good. You have a third arm, allowing to do powerfull blow, in limitied number. To reload them, you will need to do perfect parry, taking down the ennemy with a really satisfaying animation. You also have a weapon. The enemies design is cool but not varied, so basically you will find the same kind of ennemies through the all game. It's adding a little repetitivity to the experience, but in an other hand the IA is good. Platforming is an important side of this game, in each level there will be some parcour to do. Even if it's not perfect, it is pleasant to run, jump, slide and climb. Finally there is a gear improvment system, adding some cool skills, To do so, you will have to collect bounty by seeding criminal in prison. As for the story i found it okay with some cool humor The characters are maybe be a little generic, but i must say that the ending was really good and well written. It's was a good surprise. Some blackspot : the final figth can be difficult because it's hard to see what's happening on screen due to numerous ennemies. The gameplay doesn't renews itself so it can be a little bit repetitive but the game isn't that long (less than 10 hours to finish) I encounters minors bugs, where you character is stuck in one frame of it's jumping animation. It won't stop you to move thought. A beautiful 2D action game, with great animation, a unique artistic direction, a satisfying gameplay and a story that reveals herself at the end. I can't wait for a second game. If you don't mind platform, go for it.
