An engaging game with a great voice acting and a good artistic direction. To put it simply, you are send to moon in order to put the power back on and understand why it has failed mysteriously years ago. During the progression, you will have puzzle to deal with, most of them very well designed and each one coherent with the story. The game isn't hard and there are few enemies. All the interest is in the story, who is your character, what happened, etc.. quite basic themes but well traited. One other strong point of the game is the atomsphere and the sound design. I really felt like i was in a space station on the moon. I recommand you to explore the best you can since there are piece of informations scattered all around levels, not necessary to finish the game but welcomed anyway. It took me almost 8 hours to complete. If you can do it in a one shot to immerse you fully. Can't wait for the next game of the studio. If you like space related story, go for it.
A game with an original concept. You travel and visit various location, helping people with your camera, finding secret and resolving enigmas. I wasn't sure about the artistic direction at first, but once in the game it really fit the atmosphere and the writing, and i came to really enjoy it. You can take all the picture you want, add some filters & effects, name them and put them in your favorite if you wish. With humour and lightness the game let himself be played and let you with a smile at the end. I recommand you to give it a try.
A nice game where you are the king, or the queen, trying to save your kingdom of monsters attacking every night. In 2D, you have two line of defense to hold : one the right and on the left. To do so, you will have to win money allowing you to recruit warrior, farmer, builder and then expand your base. There is a season cycle : when it's winter, farmers can't grow food and there are less animal to hunt. Therefor the game is a balance between expanding & defending your castle and saving money to survive winter. In addition to that, each month or so, the red moon occurs making the attack on that night more violent and hard to resist. You can upgrade the level of fortification, find permanent improvment in the various island (5 in total) and recruit "ermit" unlock specials building very usefull. The music, pixel art, and sound design are great making the experience at the same time relaxing but intense. If you die you restart at the previous island, what youhave build still in place. Some blackspot : there is no indication or explanation in the game. I recommand you to go to the wiki expecially for the ermits, to understand better what they do, or at least have an idea. At some point the game can't be boring as you go from the right to the left, collecting coins especially because your ride have can't run indefinitly. If you like pixel and strategy/survival game in a quiet atmosphere go for it.
The gameplay is smooth : you can shoot in the fourth direction, jump and wall jump. You have the choice between 8 veterans, each one with a specific weapons and skill. The fact that you can save when you clear a room is interesting, making the progression more enjoyable. Various palette colors can be found in the game as collectibles and secrets. The game is beautiful in his style but could have been more readable. It lacks also some explanation in his mechanics, for example i discored after 2 hours that i can teleport back at the base anytime. Sometimes the game rhythm is too slow, and some stage are way too long making the game a little boring. Took me 8 hours to complete. Overall a good game with excellent music and a story in perfect adequacy with the gameplay, the art and the music. If you like pixels and retro game go for it.
Survival game on an island where you fight zombie and try to escape. The gameplay is simple : you fight zombies, destroy objects to collect ressources. With those you upgrapes and unlocks weapons & gears. When you die you lost everything you collected and you will have to retrieve it by coming back. The exploration is great, there is always something to do and there is a lot of mysteries and secret to unlocks and discovers. The map is really huge with various biomes and weather necessitating specific equipement. The story is good and pushes you to exploree further on. Some Blackspot : this is a grinding game where you will hit and destroy all the object you found, so it can become quite boring at some point. There are some issue with the automatic locking of ennemies. Took me about 80 hours to complete alone. the story finished and exploration (not fully). I guess the grinding part become less boring in coop. If you're looking for a good coop game with a lot of content go for it.
A good discovery. A side scrolling game with a fluid gameplay. Animations are great and when you start to master the jump, slide and running it gets really pleasant. There are skills point to unlock with the particularity that you have to choose between two options that will impact your gameplay in a significative way. In addition to that you loot equipment (ring, armors, necklace, etc) weapons with various stats and effects leaving you with a lots of possibilities in your build. You have a hub zone, where you can upgrapes and switch weapons & skills and try special timed missions to change the specs of your gears equipment.. The story is okay, but what will stay with me is the music. Beautiful. The game isn't very difficult one you know how to move effectively and know the map (nothing procedural) There is no aim with guns (you hit the closest enemy) making the experience more fluid. When you die you lost the gold and xp you collected. Some blackspot : there are no presice description of the weapons effects and so i was a bit lost. A side scroller feeling good under your hand with great soundracks and animations. Go for it you like those kind of game.
This is a city builder-strategy game with a management side and the goal is to defeat the ennemy. The gameplay is unique. People are dices, each face allowing to do something different : collecting food, build building, attacking, exploring, etc. So to have the face you want, you need to roll all the dice in your hand until you have it. Obviously, you can't roll your dice indefinitely, but only 15 times. If you do it more they die. In order to restaure their endurance you need food to feed them with a specific building. And their you have all the difficulty of the game and it's main mechanics : juggle between ressources you collect, the endurance of your dices, the expansion of your city and the various element like attacks, of the enemy faction and winter. You have different class of dice, each one with her own specificities : warrior to fight, peasants to collect food and build, scholar to do research, etc.. One of the biggest barrier is the winter. You can't grow food and your dice froze (making them useless) if you use them without a heat generator nearby. So you need to prepare yourself, have enough wood to power the heat generator, think about the placement position of your buiding to make sure that they are in the range of the generator etc... In addition to that you can upgrade your dice making them stronger and with special abilities. You can also save them with a specific building. Doing so you can use this dice in another game. This is a very complex game with a lot of things to know, remember and test before you can win. So don't be afraid to die at the begining. You have various leader to play with, challenge and every map is randomly generated making the game less repetitive than expected. If you like strategy/managment game with a challenge, go for it.
A classical horror game where you need to solve puzzles and find your way in a mansion by unclocking doors and shortcut. The story is simple but perfect for the immersion. To learn more, diaries are scattered throught the mansion. Ennemies are creepy as hell and you need a lot of ammos to kills them. Therefore, be carefull to aim carefully or save them by dodging and running. One of the main difficulty is it's save system. You have to collect old film tape and then find a device to use them on and save. One save per tape, so if you don't have any tape, you can't save. This system add a lot of tension. I liked it. The sound design and music are really oppressing and set the atmosphere really perfect. Someblack spot : at the begining you don't know where to go and there is a lot of ennemies, it can be difficult to find a tape to save and i died a few time, starting from the begining. Frustrating. Some riddles, espacially at the end are complicated and you need to do some backtrack making the progression painfull when you just want to see the end of the story. If you liked the firsts resident evil games, you will like this one.
The souls recipe is here but with the size of a small studio. Meaning that enemies aren't that varied, as for the weapons. The 5 areas aren't that big. But it is decent enough to enjoy playing and dying. This game is interesting not only because of his inherent dark-souls heritage, but because of the shell mechanics. Those are bodies to found and possess, each one having her own skills to unlock, with a different playstyle. In addition to that when your shell die, you're expulsed of her, but don't die. and you can reposess her, giving you a second life. The healing system really peculiar. You have only two ways to regain health : by eating consumables, but it's slow and when you're in a fight it is very dangerous to do so, or to do a perfect counter. Doing a perfect parry will regenerate your hp. So a big side of the game is to learn when to parry and learn the pattern of each enemies. The other particularity is your "harden" skill. You turn your body into stone and the next attack, any attack, will do no damage. By combining this ability with the combo of your weapons you can deal a lot damage. Therefore in fight you will often either do a lot of damage of die missing your parry. The story is criptic as expected and the artistic direction nailed it. Some blackspot : some boss fight (including the final one) take place in a fog, so it's very difficult to see anything and dodge hits. If you liked souls, you may like this game, but don't expect the same depth in the exploration and customization.
