Hotline Miami is a janky, frustrating game with an obtuse scoring system, inconsistent enemy AI, and unfair level design that all make the game feel absurdly difficult. However, when the music starts playing, when the shimmering neon "Stage Clear" graces my screen, when uncountable tens or hundreds of thousands of points tally up at the end of the level, all the fustration and exhaustion of the last level vanishes.
