Mark of Chaos is an RTS, with less focus on city/map managment, more on raw level gameplay and unit manipulation. Made back in 2006, it's shocking no one has brought it up in the recent wake of Total War's Warhammer games, considering that while it does lack things that Total War has made RTS known for, it has too many cool features, making me question how we lost them from 2006. Before I go over some features though, you need to know that in it's current GOG state, the Campaign mode is the only real means of play. (which offers the Empire/ Elf campaign, Orc/Dark Elf campaign, and the Chaos/Skaven campaign.) Skirmish, the games multiplayer/vs. AI mode in an unplayable state. The moment you add units to a team after filling the empty slots with AI (or presumably players) the start button is unclickable. Your only option is to fill in the empty slots, and just hit play, taking the random Empire only team that the game gives you and every opponent/teammate. Now that your aware of that, here's some features: - 1v1 duals between your hero units is the standout feature, a dual between two champions segeregated by a ring of fire in the heat of battle. - The campaign is a set story, with levels, rewards, and scenarios already set for the player to discover. - An item system for campaign and Skirmish, including items with very "unique" effets. - 6 races to play from (7 if Empire with dwarf merceneries), with each having 3 factions that determine your different hero options. This is of course a Skirmish feature, so you can't use those individual factions until Skirmish is fixed. I myself played Skirmish a lot in the past, from experience it was enjoyable. With 3 modes to chose from, and maps that can support six players/AI at once. - An army creator with color pallats, war banners, and individual unit customization, again, Skirmish needs to be fixed first. All in all, a great return of my favorite RTS, so if GOG can fix Skirmish, this will be an easy 5 star rating from me!
