I played this game as a kid. It has always been an inspirational title, even if it is quirky and abrupt. Lighthouse gives a sense of exploration, but the machine puzzles are odd at best.
I never played the original Outpost 1. But this game has a great feel to it and has a special place in my gaming library. The research portion to gain access to additional technologies is overwhelming without a guide or experience. The colony management and launching colonists into space is gratifying. The RTS portion is interesting, but could use some modern tweaks. Overall, this is a fun game I with a text-based story that happens between missions.
