I bought this on Epic when it was still an exclusive. It's got all the right bits but it's just not as fun as Rebel Galaxy. It's also grindier than a gacha game. It's like the grind that would have been ok in 1992 when there was only a couple games available and you had all the time in the world but things are different now. I don't even mind grind, I mean the first one had a bit of the old grindage... but the prize was in reach, you could see it. If you enjoy looking at a huge target reticule and firing stuff at it because the game says there is an enemy there, then the combat is for you. I love arcade dogfighting but it's nice to be able to actually see what you're shooting at once in a while. Get in close and take the shot. Never gonna happen in this game, or it might, but the grind to get a ship that can do it is like a mountain. The pool simulation is pretty good. The music is great. I really loved the first one and I really wanted to love this. Also I just cant fathom shield management in a high tech space fairing civilisation, it's daft, stop it.
Know that this game should be called "Lemmings have more brains than your party 2" or "Try to get the camera in a decent position before dying 2" or "The art of selling things painfully slowly 2" or "Is that an automatic equipment re-shuffle or are you just happy to see me 2" or "Getting attached to a useful character who you probably wont be able to use most of the time 2" or "Experiment with the AI behaviour options and watch your party go double full retard 2" or "Enemies clearly made up of physical matter appearing out of nowhere 2" or "The art of getting four people and a pet through a simple door in a dungeon 2" or "Fantasic views of the inside of walls using three cameras 2". Know that the music gets the stars.
