The graphic could be a bit repulsive to some people, but if you swallow that, you will be amazed by the depth of this game... at least I really was... I got this game a few years ago, and I thought, that it is some generic fantasy dungeon crawler, but after starting to play I realized, that this is real gem amongst the old school RPGs... the world is very open and you have huge amount of possibilities what to do, tons of possibilities how to develop your character, and you will experience lot of wonderful or dreadful stories, events and accidents... the game interface is interesting too, when moving on map, you see your party from top moving through the country, while in cities or other locations, the game switch to text-based interface with some graphics depicting the location, and while in combat the game is switched in real-time tactic interface with possibility of pausing the game to give orders to your characters... Recommended to every RPG-lover... 10/10
I never knew this game before I bought it, I just wanted to play some shooter, so I went on GOG and I bought this one... I liked the description "sandbox FPS"... Well, the first thing to make clear: This is NOT sandbox, but still there is lot of fun with this game... you are free to go anywhere, but mostly there is no content if the place is not connected with the current objective... the "levels" are still pretty big, and there are mostly more possibilities how to go through the current objective... It has quite pretty graphic, great story (not much invention in it, but it is cool enough), lot of (covert) action... This is not common shooter, where you can "go Rambo" on everyone and everything... you are a loner fighting against lotta more of enemies and some of them are quite tough, so it is wise to scout the surroundings and find the best way to go through (or maybe clean a bit of enemies from safe distance). The main flaw is friggin AI, because on many occasions, you have to sneak on enemies, but the engine for sneaking is really bad, because sometimes the enemies see you even when they are turned with their backs on you, or sometimes they see on insane distance... so this is the reason for minus one star :) but still I enjoyed this game quite a lot, and it has quite a lot of mods on the internetz, so you can play a new missions, new stories, lots of possibilities...
I like this game quite much, but I will say something heretic, it is not really a RPG, in RPGs you are playing some role and you can change things by your deeds, which is not really workin this much in IWD, which is more like Diablo with some dialogues...
