Caladrius Blaze

Excellent shoot 'em up

Extremely enjoyable to play. Unlike other games in the genre, Caladrius is accessible to all types of players, from novices to hardcores. I love shoot 'em up a lot, and this one is already among the best I've ever played. Yes, the PC port is kind of pig, but that doesn't detract from the game itself, which is extremely fun and has an excellent replay factor. Responsive controls, good range of playable characters, excellent voice acting and an objective upgrade system. I recommend!

Gato Roboto

Metroidvania With Love

I am suspect to talk about games of the genre "metroidvania", since it is my favorite. However, Roboto Cat adds even more love to this perfect axis. Here, do not expect anything complex (and with that I'm not stating that the difficulty is simple). It is clear that Gato Roboto serves as a lovely kind of initiation for those who are not accustomed to metroidvanias, but do not fail to contemplate admirers of the genre, who will undoubtedly fall in love with the title. Although short (completing the game takes about six hours), every second deposited in it is a smile. It's not just because the protagonist is a kitten (who in this world may not love kittens?), But because the light mechanics and visuals that honor Metroid II: Samus Returns, from the infamous Game Boy (either by the layout of the screen, or by the style artistic in black and white) refers to a good and uncompromising time, where the feeling we had was to put the cartridge in the video game, turn on the player and play. That simple. With a story that does not take itself seriously and highly fluid gameplay (even better if you use a joystick), Gato Roboto It is one of those games that you will definitely have no regrets for having acquired. At the very least you will find it pleasant and unforgettable. It's yet another nice addition to GOG's catalog, to be played by anyone who loves video games, and to thrill older gamers with their gentleness and simplicity.

Supraland

A great big noteworthy

This is possibly one of those indie games that can born with the status of "cult". Not because it is a watershed or its reading is subjective, but because the first impact it causes (when verifying images and trailers) is a neutral reaction, it can not scale how exquisite it actually is. This game, guarded the proportions, is a species of Metroid Prime meet Toy Story and The Legend of Zelda. I honestly have never seen anything like it. First, because there are very few games in the Metroidvania genre in the first person, and secondly because the colorful look and the plot are extremely unique. The combat and the exploration of this game is a perfect marriage, with emphasis on the backtring (the feeling of revisiting areas not yet accessible after obtaining the necessary powers is very gratifying). The soundtrack is very successful and translates well the feel of each environment, and the puzzles have progressive difficulty as few games. Nevertheless, the great icing on the cake is the creativity with which the developer worked the concept, to which I will not go into the merit to not give spoillers. It's one of those games that you do not give any merit until you play, and after doing so, well, you fall in love right away. Congratulations to the developer and GOG for having made this pearl available for purchase here. I made the acquisition just when I saw the ad, and I invite all other metroidvan enthusiasts, even those who are not accustomed to playing them in the first person, so they also acquired Supraland. You will be amazed at the quality of this remarkable great little one!

Yooka-Laylee

A re-reading of the old times

Yooka-Layle is an ode to the 3D platform games that reigned for years during the 64-bit generation. However, it is Banjo-Kazooie who comes as the main reference, not only because the game flushes through dialogues, menus, challenges, art, music and the title's own name, but also because much of the original Rare team (and subsequently created Banjo-Kazooie) is part of Playtronic, the developer of this title. No less, even acclaimed composers David Wise (Donk Kong Country trilogy) and Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) are part of this stellar cast. It is a game that not only makes you smile all the time by referring us to the good times of childhood and adolescence, but also because it recovers a genre so forgotten in recent decades, adding new rich elements to 3D platforms. Everything in Yooka-Layle is beautiful, thought to the smallest details. It is a masterpiece to be enjoyed by the new and old generations, so that everyone can visit or revisit a piece of game history through a new outfit, anchored by a pair of characters as charismatic as their parents, Banjo and Kazooie. The few flaws do not stand out from his mastery, making it a must-have for any video game player.
