SNK 40th Anniversary Collection

A love letter to electronic games

I want to base my analysis on a simple but relevant point: this collection is a vital part of the history of electronic games! Some of the games have not aged very well, but most have fun like never before, arouse feelings, reproduce good memories and, more than that, show why SNK was so loved during its golden years, which go far beyond "The King of Fighters "and" Metal Slug ". Everything sounds good. The collection is 100% functional. Good menus, good controls and excellent emulation. The mere fact that you play video games should make this collection a must-buy, but the fact that it is 100% DRM-Free leaves what is already good even better. Dear GOG users, no matter what your favorite game genre is, this collection is for you. Collaborate with good products like this around here. Have a good game!

Inspector Waffles

Purring in noir style

Here is a game that promises nothing but delivers everything. This is the type of game that I have the most affinity with. What made me buy "Inspector Waffles" was the narrative involving cats. I love cats, so I thought, at the very least, funny a cat as an inspector trying to solve the murder of another cat. Right in the bull's-eye! I don't know how to express exactly how I feel, but it's like playing a poin and click with Noir aesthetics but with jokes and extremely funny situations involving cats and dogs. The pixelart work is very beautiful, but it is just a backdrop for the dialogues and successful soundtrack of an EXTREMELY quirky and fun experience. I had fun from start to finish. I mainly recommend it to anyone who is afraid to play a point and click due to the high standard difficulty. Here, the difficulty curve is friendly, and the narrative does not allow you to be frustrated at any time, even when it takes time to solve a problem. It is a delicious game, clearly made with great care. It is good to appreciate titles like this, which run away from current trends and surprise us without promising. Ah. Yes. The jazz-style soundtrack is like winning a fish sachet! Hahaha. Defects? Yes: it is short. Well, it's not like we have games of the genre that are not short, but when the work is good, we always want more. In short: If you like point and clicks, buy without fear. If you don't like or are afraid to play one, this title is also for you. Seriously, there is no way to go wrong. NOTE: I hope that, over time, new languages will be available to reach the largest number of people. In games of the genre, whose texts are the focus, the more translations, the better. Good job!

Retro Classix: Joe & Mac - Caveman Ninja

Good for preserving memories

The first game in the series was ported in an exemplary manner. The emulator works perfectly, with control support and some filter options. There is absolutely no error found by me. The only critical observation I make is that this game has not aged well. It must be remembered that it was originally an arcade title, and that means that the difficulty was built in such a way as to be disproportionate, so that the user needed to spend with a lot of chips, therefore, new players are unlikely to have fun with this title, it serves for players of the time and for those who want to know a little about the history of the games. I have a very special affection for this series, and so I support this release. I would very much like to see the sequel to Joe & Mac (Lost in Tropics), this one worked for PC and consoles in a coherent way. The spin-off "Congo's Caper" would also be a dream come true.

New Super Lucky's Tale

A lovely 3D platform adventure

I am a happy owner of the physical media of this game for my Nintendo Switch, but before that I played the original version on Xbox One, so the reading I do, with ownership, is as follows: New Super Lucky's Tale is a COMPLETELY revised version of Super Lucky's Tale. This version, redesigned with support from Nintendo (the queen in games of this style), makes it a pearl of 3D platform games, a genre so abandoned in the times in which we live. Dear GOG users, this game is a relic. I was extremely happy with its release here, which is why I made a point of buying a copy free of DRM, in addition to supporting the beautiful work of Playful. He's not a Banjo-Kazooie, not even a Super Mario 3D World or a Donkey Kong 64, and I don't say that as a bad thing. It is because, obviously, New Super Lucky's Tale drinks from the source of these ancient and modern classics to create its own universe of beauty, which is precisely that of its simplicity. It is an easy game, without excess of collectibles and relatively short, and that is what makes it special. Yes, the excellent physics, the friendly camera (one of the greatest gaming nightmares of the genre) and the lovely and colorful scenarios are a charm, but I must say that it is particularly pleasant to play a game of this genre without it taking so for real. I'm a Nintendo fan and a fan of 3D platform games, so I feel comfortable inviting you to meet this game. IT IS VERY NICE! No, he is far from reinventing the wheel, and it's a good thing that it is. Its delicacy and simplicity will make any player satisfied, from children to adults like you and me. In times where games like this are rare outside of Nintendo's satellite, this is a rare chance to support a decent and neat job, from a new IP that, I hope, has the future it deserves. I hope you all have as much fun as I did with Lucky.

Mark of the Ninja: Remastered

The mark of a masterpiece of the genre

Finally the definitive version arrived at GOG, and we all deserved the extra content of this stealth masterpiece. Mark of The Ninja is so clear in its forms, in the lightness of its controls and in its fantastic art that you really feel immersed in this stealthy world. In addition, the satisfying story and its animations that refer to the drawings of the early 2000s add additional charm. I feel very grateful for playing games like this, not only for the quality, but for the simple fact that you will find almost nothing of the kind, especially when it comes to side scrolling, even if a casual player will make progress , because the difficulty evolution is very well balanced, and even if you fail (and it will happen a lot), the feeling of progression is so pleasant that the sensation is almost pleasant. Buy with peace of mind. It is Klein Studio's greatest masterpiece in all its glory, and DRM-free, of course.

LEGO® Batman™ 3: Beyond Gotham Premium Edition

Abundant content for a great fan service

This is certainly the best game in the Lego franchise, and the reason is simple: the intensity of content. Yes, all games in the Lego series feature a plurality of content, but Lego Batman 3 goes further. It is a true DC Comics encyclopedia. There are literally more than 150 characters to unlock, each with their own characteristics. Also, as usual, unlockable content is equally insane, so it will take you at least 60 hours to reach 100%, all while exploring the game’s multiple hubworlds, divided between the Batcave, the Justice League Room, the league's Watchtower and some other surprises that deserve to be discovered by yourself. Campaign mode is relatively short. There are 15 levels that must be overcome to stop the villain Brainiac, who wants to transform the land into miniatures for his collection (the game plot). After that, the bonus content takes care of delivering super fun expansions, ranging from the Suicide Squad to the timeless, comical and legendary Batman by Adam West, entitled to the delirious dance "The Batusi". Filled with jokes, like Catwoman mentioning that from bad films she understands, this is a pleasurable work from start to finish. What prevents me from giving it 5 stars are the characteristic bugs in the series, which unfortunately are not so uncommon to happen, such as characters disappearing or the impossibility of progression because a piece is missing, for example. This in no way takes the shine off the game, but it can frustrate eventually. My verdict, therefore, is this: if you like games from the Lego franchise, DC comics and a good "collectathon", you are facing a must-buy.

Underhero

Impressive, from start to finish

This game is one of my greatest joys this year. It is basically the spiritual successor to "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door". And I'm not exaggerating. Before writing this review I was thinking "how to explain to GOG users what this game is about?", And I still don't know how to explain it in an exquisite way, as the title deserves, so, within my possibilities, allow me to affirm that it is a unique experience. Completely unique. It works like an RPG, it works like an adventure, it works like a platform game, it works like a rhythmic game, it works like a puzzle game and it works like a narrative game. It is brilliant how Underhero incorporates multiple elements of the games and builds a jewel as surprising as the aforementioned Paper Mario was. If you love games, especially if you were a player from the 1990s, Underhero is a love letter, and especially a sigh in front of all this ton of generic titles that we have received in recent years. Here we have a level design and love of games class, and that spirit is explicit from the beginning until the final PHENOMENAL of the game. Not only do I suggest buying this jewel, I encourage you to play it TODAY. Is unforgettable!

Panzer Dragoon: Remake

Best version for an obscure diamond

As the owner of a copy of this game on the Nintendo Switch, I can confirm that the PC version, released today, is the definitive edition. One of the biggest problems with the Switch version, when released months ago, was the steady drop in FPS. Over time it received several updates, and the final product was delivered today. The classic is preserved. It is the return of Panzer Dragoon to a new generation of players, and serving as a delight for the nostalgic. This remake preserves the computer graphics scenes of the original, and takes the heart of all fans with an incredible remix made by the game's original composer. However, it sins in the unacceptable absence of extras, which does not make sense given the historical value of the franchise. Furthermore, because it is short, it does not establish mechanisms to increase durability, which could be done, for example, with a score system and an online ranking. With fluid gameplay, Panzer Dragoon: remake was very well optimized for the PC. I swore that my modest computer would have trouble running the game, but luckily it didn't. Add that to the fact that games in the Rail Shooting genre are incredibly more enjoyable to play with a mouse and here you will have the definitive edition of a franchise that has always been underestimated, alongside icons of the genre, such as Sin and Punshment A safe purchase, no doubt. I await the remake of the sequence, which luckily is already confirmed.

METAL GEAR

Surpresa formidável

Meu Deus, GOG, aí sim fomos surpreendidos novamente! Acordei normalmente nesta sexta-feira, liguei meu celular e havia várias notificações. Achei estranho.

Biped

A quirky and funny puzzle

When I started the game and I was introduced to the character's movement system, I soon thought "wow, this isn't going to work, it's really bad", but luckily I was wrong. Biped is a puzzle game, the mechanics of which comes from a robot with two feet that need to be manipulated by means of the control's analog levers (I don't know what it's like on the keyboard because I haven't tested it). It is necessary for the player to press one lever at a time so that the adorable robot can move, since each of the levers represents one of the character's feet. This is very strange at first, because in addition to looking confused, there is a feeling of lack of control, of difficulty, but it is temporary. In a few minutes it is already possible to adapt and realize the magic behind this peculiarity. It is a relatively short game, but with beautiful scenarios and very intelligent and fun puzzles. Hence another important point: it is not a boring game. I usually have a problem with puzzle games as they, at some point, start to become massive, repetitive and time consuming, but Biped manages to balance these issues with extreme efficiency, through a delicious and cohesive level design. The focus, however, is multiplayer, be it local or online (unfortunately I was not successful in using online mode). It was and is being very funny to play with my boyfriend. As the mechanics of manipulating the robot are very peculiar, the number of errors and comic episodes for solving the puzzles ends up being a reason for a lot of laughter. In that sense, it is somewhat reminiscent of the also friendly "Snipperclips", a cooperative puzzle from Nintendo for the Switch. It is a game that I strongly recommend, but it becomes much more attractive if you have other people to play with you. The price is right, due to the relatively short duration, and it will hardly disappoint you.
