Blue Wednesday

Fantastic music and art, boring gameplay

I really wanted to like that game. I has great graphics, fantastic jazz music and the slice of life story about a young jazz musician sounds interesting as well. But to be honest, it's mostly boring. The whole gameplay consists of walking around town and talk to the same people over and over again. And unfortunately the stories they tell are simply not interesting. It also doesn't help that the main charater isn't very likeable and the whole plot including the ending is a little depressing. So the only thing left is the minigames. Playing piano is pretty good, the rest is forgetable and way to easy. There's also a problem with the save system. Game autosaves, there is no manual saving. That wouldn't be bad, but unfortunately the game doesn't tell you when it saves. So sometimes when you return, you only have to replay some seconds, but sometimes it will be several minutes. You'll never know in advance. So instead of really playing the game, I would recommend to buy the Deluxe version when it's on sale and listen to the OST and look at the artbook instead. You'll still get the most enjoyable things of the game and won't waste your time with the boring stuff.

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream

Interesting themes, but not a good game

The game deals with a lot of interesting topics. But unfortunately it is still not a good game. The individual stories are very rushed, the puzzles are mediocre. Also it happens a lot that you have to replay scenarios, because you did things in the wrong order or missed something. Technical nothing is wrong with the game, also graphics and voice acting are fine. But if you just want a nice adventure game from that time, there are better titles.
