The Crimson Diamond is a wonderful throwback to the older days of adventure games! Much like The Colonel's Bequest, you snoop around finding mysteries and clues to solve them. When you take certain actions the story advances, so make sure you find everything you can! (Save early, save often!) Like other detective games, you can finish the story without discovering or answering all the mysteries. Be prepared to go back and do more digging (literal and metaphorical) to figure everything out! The only improvement I would have liked to see is using 256 colors instead of 16; nostalgic or not, I don't miss the "sunburn-pink" skin color and very visible dithering from my days of playing Sierra games on a Tandy 1000 TX. The art is done well for the chosen limitations, though, and shouldn't stop anyone from playing this adventure. If you like the older style of adventure games, you should give The Crimson Diamond a try!
