The Mystery of the Druids

Shrimply a Masterpiece

The Mystery of the Druids by german former development studio:"House of Tales" is one of the most criminally underrated games ever released. Atmospheric backgrounds, good music (although the 2001-Soundtrack has way more tracks and is more varied) and characters that you will remember for sure, even if you only had to talk to them for like- 20 Minutes at most. they make you WANT to try every dialogue option. The game delivers an excellent mix of serious- and silly moments. It will make you laugh, but also make you stare at your screen in shock. Of course, as any piece of art is, The Mystery of the Druids is not perfect. It's very noticeable that the developers had big plans for this and wanted to do so much more with the story, but sadly either time, resources, or both was missing, so the end is pretty clearly rushed and includes complicated puzzles that are so complicated they give me the feeling that this is an attempt of the developers to artificially lenghen the game. Funfacts about this game: 1. GOG did release the 2004 re-release of this game, the original 2001 release features a different soundtrack, included 3 discs (one for installing, one for the present and one for the past) that you needed to play the game and! shockingly: Lowry was not floating in his chair! The 2001 Soundtrack is available on Youtube, you should 100% give it a listen! 2. Speaking of Lowry: he is voiced by Frank Ryan (at least in english), who actually worked in the music industry! you can also find his album "You You" on Youtube! 3. The game was supposed to be called:"The Heir of the Druids", but the developers changed thier mind on that. in beta-screenshots of the game, Halligan is wearing a blue coat instead of a brown one- fashion statement or placeholder texture? only he knows... 4. In the german dub of the game, Pierre the fisherman DOES have a french accent! - Written by german poet Mia, who is restricted by the character count
