Holy hell. This is a great game. Like, I used to be a big fan of open world games, but over time I began to find a lot of them boring with bland stories, cookie-cutter side missions and the most bland characters. Sleeping Dogs tosses all that out of the window (barring a few of those cookie-cutter side missions, but what can you do?) The story is wonderful and the characters really are such a vivid and colorful cast. When something happens to them, you really feel bad. The voice-actors really went above and beyond to make their characters feel alive. The gameplay is solid; nothing super spectacular or unique but it feels really good to just get immersed and really get in this world. My largest gripe would have to be with the camera which occasionally flips around weirdly and the ending of the story kinda feels a little rushed in certain ways? Its not a bad ending by any means; I kind of expected it in some ways, but I felt like it could have maybe been extended by a short while. Additionally, I also think an alternative ending would have really fit the game's central premise of an undercover cop fighting with his two sides. Overall, I really think this is a great game. I bought it when it came on GOG because it look interesting and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. If you're apprehensive about the price, get it on sale; I got it for dirt cheap but even at full-price its totally worth it. What a great game.
Superhot is a solid game; The mechanic is really fun and its incredibly stylish. That said, it became incredibly tedious as the levels went on. Things would be going so well and I would almost finish a level and then you get hit by something from behind with no way to dodge it. It becomes a slog to fight through the whole level again and again. At times, it feels less like skill and more like luck got me through the levels. Its not a bad game, and I did largely have fun with it, but the frustration I felt at certain times... I'd say MAYBE get it on a discount. I was lucky enough to get it for free and while I enjoyed my time for the most part and I don't think I would ever want to play it a second time.
The story in this game has only improved since the last one. With more characters, an expanding premise and great voice acting, The Fall Part 2 really does a great job telling its story. It follows similar themes to the previous game, but expands upon them in interesting and new ways. I genuinely enjoyed the story and how it was told; I've really come to love Arid and all of her companions through these two games. I only have small gripes about the story; certain elements and developments are not explained as well as they could have or should have been and the final act felt rather rushed; a single chapter could have been used to build up to it a little more, I think. But putting all that aside, the story was good. Sadly, I can't really say the same for the gameplay; the combat sections are generally serviceable. The gunplay has improved slightly since the first game and the melee sections are brief, enjoyable respites. Neither of them are particularly challenging and they can actually be enjoyable in their brief bursts. The larger issue I have is with the puzzle mechanics that have barely changed since the previous game and in some instances have become even more tedious. It can be mildly frustrating at the best of times and downright infuriating at the worst. The puzzles are sadly the game's weakest aspect, but at the very least they do not detract from my general enjoyment of the story. All in all, I would consider the Fall part 2 an improvement from its predecessor by a long shot. I would suggest getting it, if you're interested, during a sale as the price can drop to less than $5 and I'd say that's a good bargain. I only hope that Part 3, whenever it drops, carries the trend of improvement...
I don't think The Fall is a bad game. But it is a bit bland in some ways. Puzzles are really not much more than bringing certain items and testing them with certain objects and hoping you get something. Sometimes the connections are fairly obvious and other times they can go over your head and feel tedious. The combat is a bit simple and at times can be a little annoying, but its serviceable. The real strength of The Fall is its story and it all has to do with choice, free-will and the rules that we apply to ourselves and it does this extremely well, which is quite amusing considering that its a fairly linear game. It does end on a cliff-hanger, which can be unsatisfying for some, but personally, I was okay with it. If the sequel never materialized, I would be okay with this as an ambiguous ending. Thankfully, the sequel does exist. All in all, the Fall is a decent game. It has a good story with decent gameplay with a fairly short-runtime. I definitely enjoyed my time with this game, but its got its flaws. If you are considering this game, I'd say get it on sale.
I really enjoyed this story. The game itself is super linear; I believe that you can get some mildly different story beats depending on your dialogue choices but the end result is always the same. That said, the story is great and the characters really endear themselves to you. Mutaziome really hooked me with its visuals, story and music. Sometimes it felt a bit too slow, but that's a personal preference. Its a lovely game, worth enjoying especially if you're into visual novel type games.
Like many here, I got this game on EGS when it was offered for free. While visually, its very interesting, the game is really not much more than a walking sim. The gameplay really just involves going from point A to point B with some small stealth elements, occasional QTEs and light puzzle-solving. The story is relatively enjoyable, if a little predictable but its not bad at all. If anything, the story is the real highlight here. Its enjoyable and the characters are voice-acted well, in my opinion. My only qualm with the story is that it is incomplete. It ends on a cliff-hanger with the intent for more, but I don't know if they're going to make a sequel. I hope they will because the story deserves to be completed. Honestly, I don't know if I can recommend this game. The gameplay is mediocre at best and the story, while fun, is incomplete and waiting for more. Unless you're really interested in the premise OR a sequel does get released which completes the story, I'd say you're better off spending your money elsewhere.
I've only just started it and got through the first few chapters but I'm generally enjoying myself. As a stealth game, Aragami is pretty solid. The mechanics feel good and solid. The story is a bit vague so far but thats not really a big concern for me considering the game is still pretty fun. My major complaint is that the game doesn't explain a few things; they aren't game breaking by any means but they do feel a bit unpleasant to learn at the wrong times. For example, I had just defeated all of the guards in a certain level before I made my character touch some water and he ended up dying instantly. There was no mention that water was an instant-kill before that and I was sent all the way back to the beginning of the level. It was more than a little infuriating. I wish that I had known of this "weakness" or at least that the game would've autosaved me after I killed the guards. Aragami is a fun game, but it feels like it could've used a little more polish in certain QOL areas.
Whenever you see a review of Dusk, it always seems like its a god-send. An amazing retro FPS that no one can hate. Well, they're not wrong. It really is a cool game. Wonderful aesthetic and a lot of intense action. Its fun no doubt. Just not as fun as I expected it to be. The world building felt... minimal. I'm the kind of player who loves learning about the world I'm playing in, but that just wasn't happening here. I was just shooting my foes and rushing to the end of the levels while trying to find a few small secrets. Sure there's some joy when it comes to random shooting action, but its just not my cup of tea. I like a little more time to slow down and take in the environments. Have the story unfold a bit more. Dusk is a good game, but I don't expect it to be for everyone. Don't get sucked into the hype like I was. I expected it to amazing, but its just okay.
This game is really not much more than a walking sim. Its really short and basic. The only thing it really has going for it, is its story and its a good story. I really like the story, but the way its delivered is kinda "meh". Its definitely not a bad game, but its certainly not amazing. Its really just so-so. I mean, if you're into walking sims and you like coming out stories, its definitely an enjoyable experience. I was fortunate enough to get it for free, but if you do wanna buy it, get it on sale and only on sale.
