Jim Power - The Lost Dimension

Includes 4 Versions

All versions play great. The classic releases would have been above-average titles for their time, and the recently developed NES version in particular feels very well made. I didn't expect to like the default/DOS version, but it's actually perfectly fine, and was nicely set up with controller support out of the box.

Rune Classic

Rune Classic

I only played this recently for the first time, so it isn't nostalgia talking when I say this game is good. Rune Classic is definitely rough around the edges, and showing its age, but even so it has a certain satisfying feel that few modern games get right. The overall experience reminds me a little of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. If you liked that, you'd more than likely enjoy this.

Pid

3.5 stars

'Not my intention to be the bad guy here. I went in really wanting to like this game, (and in fact, I do! but...) it simply hasn't been holding my interest in the ways that I'd hoped. The music is utterly amazing, and the visuals are crisp and unique,.. the controls are even pretty good, unlike what I read in many reviews. I just can't pretend I really enjoy the puzzle mechanics as much as a lot of other indie platformers. The game seems to award me with many powerups I never need, and I found the shops utterly useless as well. I maybe purchased from the shops twice in the entire game, and there were some powerups I never even used once. I consider Pid to be a relaxing game best played in short installments. There are some really cool and creative places and enemies... even if other parts occasionally feel like a chore.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition

dios mio

I didn't expect this to end up coming to GOG, but as a previous buyer I can say this is a very charming and colourful game, with delightfully festive music. As it states in the description, it is a "metroidvania" that plays somewhat like Symphony of the Night done in the style of Shank, and sprinkled with spicy Mexican goodness. There were a few too many "lol meme" references for my blood, but they didn't hurt the overall enjoyment of the game. According to Steam, Guacamelee took me about 16 hours (not exactly rushing) to find all of its hidden secrets and achieve the "good ending". Controller is not necessary but recommended.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Only scary game I've ever played

I consider myself a pretty manly dude, never phased by much. Particularly not any poor excuses for "horror" games or films, and I've played/watched many. I can admit without feeling like too much of a pansy, that Amnesia did legitimately creep me out, and is the only game to date to have done so. They did an excellent job of immersion, in which you really feel and adopt your character's fear and helplessness. 75% off on launch is quite generous, so if like me you've never been "scared" by a game, give it a try. (Lights off, alone, and headphones is how I played it. Nothing's going to be scary in a busy room full of sunlight and family/friends
