The story is fine enough, I really like the characters, the art and music are top notch as usual, but the combat, man. It feels like they took everything that worked with combat in the first game and completely tossed it out in favor of a system that is just one frustrating one sided encounter after another. The fights aren;t challenging due to cleverness, the only challenge comes from the ultimately poorly designed but overwhelming force type fights.
Just the short of it, the game is great in the visual and audio departments. The characters are well animated and everything sounds great. The gameplay is incredibly frustrating. The UI is very clunky, the fact I can shoot further than I can zoom out and can't see hit percentages of things is telling. The game also does a very poor job at explaining how to do certain actions in the game, for example, that you can use quickslot items on NPCs out of combat to complete quests. I -think- it may have said something during a 1/4second of text that popped up in the UI while talking to an npc, but it was unreadable. The game does not utilize set rolls for the RNG so you can reload for different results. Which you will have to do multiple times, and there is no way to speed up cutscene dialogue if you have to reload before a fight that has it. Honestly, while I liked the story, setting, and other qualities of the game, it just wasn't fun.
