Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold

Blake Stone: AoG Review

Pros: -Built on the Wolfenstein 3D engine, it hits all the right nostalgia points. Expect similar graphics, sound effects, and music to the original Wolfenstein 3D. -Includes GOG graphic settings, making it easy to get up and running on modern systems. -Enemies are well-animated and even feature some voice acting, which adds charm. -Map layouts are fun and varied, combining keycard hunts with lever-pulling puzzles. A few sections can be a bit frustrating, but there are plenty of good maps online if you get stuck. -The game is very colorful and leans into its space theme in a fun and fitting way. Cons: -The weapons lack variety. Aside from one AoE (area-of-effect) weapon, most are just slight variations of the basic handgun. -The story writing is a bit weak—it reads awkwardly at times and can be hard to follow. Overall: If you're a fan of Wolfenstein 3D, you'll probably enjoy Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold. It’s an easygoing retro FPS that's great for a casual playthrough. Whether you're clearing out your GOG backlog or looking for a budget-friendly shooter with that classic '90s vibe, it's worth a look.
