Hitman 2016 is an amazing stealth game. The sandbox is wonderful, the missions are excellent, the open ended problem solving is probably some of the best in recently memory and it performs like a dream. If that's what you're after and you don't care about the fact that the game has some of the worst DRM (always online DRM), then by all means go pick it up right now and enjoy. However the reason why I'm giving this one star is because of the mentioned always online DRM for a sizeable amount of content within the game (Escalation missions and Elusive Targets which are large missions with excellent VO work). Imagine going into a vegan restaurant (whether you're vegan or not, just entertain me for a moment), picking up a hotdog and eating it. Only to be told that it's actually a meat product and not a vegan hotdog. Yes, whilst a store has all the right to sell whatever it wants. Consumers on the other hand should expect a vegan restaurant to sell vegan food and likewise a DRM free store to sell games that are DRM free. This is the problem I have, that GOG which has lately been an amazing store that sells DRM free (including AAA games like Cyberpunk 2077) are now selling games that not only has DRM but the most aggressive kind of DRM that locks you out of the game you bought if you do not have a good internet connection (goodbye gamers that live in the country side!) or if their servers are down (Error 37 for Diablo 3 for instance). I am more than happy to switch this review to a 5-star review once the DRM is properly removed but until then, the game has some of the most aggressive DRM in gaming in general and therefore it deserves a 1-star.
