Look, I know I'm an idiot series superfan, but the narrative in this game is amazing. There are so many great JRPG staples. -Turn based battles with random drops, some of which is late game equipment, yep. -Being able to see the storyline from an antagonist perspective -A combat system that builds upon BoF3's magic combos that is fun to exploit. -You can learn magic and abilities from enemies, then move those skills over to various characters to create different builds. Look, there't a lot to do here, nerds. Just play the game and enjoy it ok.
