Tedious

The story seems interesting enough, but the gameplay is really boring. I spend what felt like quite a lot of time trying to find out where the game is. The area you're dropped in is large, but it's full of dead ends and objects you can't interact with. To see whether you can interact with something, you must stop moving. The sheer number of objects makes it hard to spot objects you can interact with, which is not helped by a lack of standardization in what buttons look like. When I did eventually find the game, it was primarily in the form of stumbling on things I could interact with and clicking them to progress. There was no thought involved. After a while of this, I was given a cart to drive around, but its operation is far too realistic to be any fun. You have to get out of it and adjust the track levers every time you want to turn, and it's fairly slow and noisy. That's as far as I got before deciding this isn't my cup of tea.

Treasure Adventure Game

A great game, but flawed.

When this game starts off, it feels like a very casual adventure platformer, like a Metroidvania you could recommend to non-gamers. You're intended to explore the world and find its secrets without too much hand-holding, but the secrets aren't obscure BS like back in the Nintendo days. All the hidden spots and puzzle solutions are found simply by slowing down, thinking, and paying attention to detail. The colorful graphics, cute animals, and great music really enhance the experience. However, the game is "ruined" (depending on the type of gamer you are) by iffy platform edges. You can't quite tell where the end of any given platform is, and thus our hero is prone to slipping off or jumping too early. Whether he grabs onto the edge of a platform you're jumping to is somewhat of a gamble. Early on, these flaws are easy to live with. If you fall, you can just try again, and it's not too stressful. However, as the game goes on, the platforming elements become increasingly difficult, and falling due to these flaws will make you want to kill yourself. If you're the kind of person who plays a lot of Mario or I Wanna Be the Guy, this won't be a problem for you. However, if you're not good at this kind of thing, it renders the game unplayable. It's really a shame when games seem to change demographic mid-way through. I sincerely thank the developer for this great game, and especially for making it free. :) I look forward to playing other Robit games in the future.
